Perimenapause

Ok ladies so after having my blood results back I have been told I'm in perimenapause. I have been told to go and discuss managing it. I know hrt is not an option untill in menopause so I would like to know what root you ladies took if any and does it work?

Hi Bev,

I don't know my family history, so I wasn't willing to experiment with HRT. So, like you, I had to make do.

I have changed my diet a lot. No flour, sugar, or dairy.  That helped a lot. Cutting sugar really helped with sleep. Cutting out the flour definitely helped my mood. When I do cheat and have flour, I am in a towering rage for 24 hours.

The health anxiety is bad for me. So I got an Rx for ativan.  That helps. I've journaled to process the anxiety as well. Julia Cameron, in her book "The Artist's Way," recommends 3 free-hand pages each day to get out the junk that clutters the brain when we are fearful.

But I will say the health anxiety has been the worse for me and the least responsive to all the things I've tried. (I just spend an hour on a website reading reviews of a probiotic out to page 37!!!! because I am afraid of taking it.)

There are some practical things I try to do.  Exercise in the morning to improve my mood. Have clean bedsheets upstairs in the bedroom for nights I sweat through. Make sure I have expandable clothes for the horribly bloaty days so that I can go to work and not feel like I am being cut in half by a tourniquet.

I would love to hear from the other ladies what some of their menopause hacks are!

I've just brought some menopause max tablets from boots they are just vitamins to help so I'm willing to give them a try 😊 as I don't want to take hrt x
