I was wondering if perimenopause in such a young age is a rare condition or many doctors are dismissing the symptoms and are making wrong diagnosis to other young women such as depression,, anxiety disorder, bipolar etc
"you are too young and since you are still having periods, you are ok!"
I had to repeat three tests and only one last January indicated too high fsh, lh and too low estradiol on day 3 of my cycle...
Is it wrong genetics, is it an idiopathy of my body? Any young lady close to my age in same condition?
Hi evi
I'm not your age but I was once
I'm 43 now, but have primary ovarian failure diagnosed at 16 and so I've always had issues. At first the docs put me on hrt but there was a big scare about breast cancer and so at 17 I was advised not to take them. I pretty much managed 20plus years of crippling anxiety, pain, fatigue etc and never once were my levels checked. I ended up with a disease of the thyroid which gave me colitis and an illeostomy at 37, have countless auto immune diseases as well as osteoporosis. Had I for one minute thought it was my hormones, I would've been on it but I certainly would have expected the professionals to think of it! So I'm not surprised that you are getting the run around, and I know for a fact that women in the UK are being prescribed antidepressants and getting the wrong diagnosis..... Which is ridiculous because you don't just wake up one morning totally nutty! I'm my case I always say I'm genetically faulty, but it all could have been avoided if I'd been treated. Take care of yourself xx
If you FSH is rising yes you could be going through the shift faster or you are deficient in estrogen. I felt a shift at 32 but not like that. You might go see an endocrinologist to see if you can slow things down. I don't know if you want kids but a high FSH can be a problem if you do. I'd definitely get a second opinion. You might check with your mom or other older female family members and see when they went through menopause.
