Hi Ladies
Please help. Anyone experienced this internal tremor vibration?
Almost like when your cold. Really hard to explain. Ive had it on and off in peri but my health anxiety tells me its something serious. Im on 15mg of mirtazapine an AD but I want to come off it cause I kerp thinking mayb its a side effect. But just thinking about withdrawal of this med is making me anxious as well. When im busy I dont notice Iit. I notice Iit more when Iim sitsitting still. X
Hi Michelle, I think this is another symptom of menopause, I get it a lot, inner shaking like a vibrating sensation
I don't think it sounds like a side effect of your medication, just be careful about coming off the AD
Take care
Brenda x
Hi Michelle,
I've had the internal tremors. Last year they were really bad and I would sometimes shake all over too. I was tested for diabetes but it wasn't that. My worst internal tremor feelings were in my stomach area, such a weird feeling. They would come and go. They made me feel extremely anxious and I would get 'surges' of adrenalin feelings with them so it was difficult to know if the anxiety was bringing them on or was a result of them. I have definitely read that these internal tremors can be part of the peri. They are really anxiety inducing though so practice breathing and relaxation techniques and keep telling yourself they are harmless. Hope you feel better soon.
Hi Michelle, I got that when I first started per I, it scared the crap out of me. As the other ladies said it's another nagging nuisance of the syndrome. I remain stunned and amazed at the power of estrogen and all of the issues resulting from it'd decrease. I spoke with my mom and she said all she ever got was heat flashes that's it. No breast pain, no joint swelling no chest swelling, no panic attacks nada. I
Thank you ladies for your replies. For some reason im not getting notification of ur replies on my email. I have finally read the leaflet on the mirtazapine and tremors and shakes is a common symptom. But if im totally honest I think I had them on and off before the meds. Ive been in perimenopause eight years and this symptom always sends my anxiety through the roof. I have an appt next werk at docs to discuss weaning off. Not sure if its the right decision or not but I have gained half a stone in a year on them as well x
I'm not sure what your 'health anxiety' means as far as a diagnositc tool...but the only thing that comes to mind is possible thyroid - other than that my thoughts would suggest a good b complex vitamin to help your nervous system and magnesium to sooth muscle tremors or spasms. In the meantime by all means ask your doctor or phamacist if what you are feeling is normal or not. Peace of mind is what counts
I started having internal shaking/vibrations that repeatedly woke me at night 11 months ago too. I still have it although not alwaus as bad. I definitely think its related to peri menopause and hormone levels for me.
Have you found anything that helps? Im contemplating hrt but wondering if it's only a temporary fix.
I really wish doctors would acknowledge this symptom. So many women experience it.
at one time this was the worst symptom for me
its somehow related to stomach problems and/or anxiety but i cant quite put my finger on it
i get long spells of buzzing or jitters too
i found that it magnifies if we are still...so now i get going and do some sort of activity...its just a body sensation ...others cannot see the tremours
the shaking that comes with blood sugar dropping can be visible to others
Hi Michelle, am new to this forum, but I had to reply I too get this unsettling trembly sensation, all over I am in menopause and have never had so many weird symptoms, it's scary I am always at docs, yet nothing wrong! So they say, I still fret it's something serious, like you it seems to go when am busy, guess it's all due to the changes our bodies go through!hope your ok.
Do your tremors make you very anxious? I wake up with them every morning. My anti anxiety medication doesn't even really help anymore. I feel so nauseous also and have headaches and gastritis. I feel like my whole body is shaking and I can't sit still.
Tonia, Yes. When I started having this symptom I had no idea what was causing it and that made me very anxious. I've since worked through the anxiety and don't fear it anymore. Now I barely even wake up when it happens at night. Through this journey I learned that hormone fluctuations can cause this symptom or it can be just anxiety driven. I know how scary it can be when it starts so if you want you can message me.
I can't stand it. I feel like I'm going to go crazy. Did anything help?
I have the internal shaking as well as the external shaking. I have had it for years. It will slack up sometimes, but it always comes back. I have not found anything that helps with this. The shaking is so bad sometimes it is visable to anyone around me. Anxiety definitely makes it worse. There are days I truly feel like I am loosing it!
I am positive my internal vibration/shaking is caused by hormonal shifts from peri. It started after my hysterectomy along with other classic peri symptoms. I also believe anxiety makes it 10x worse. Somehow the elevated stress hormones/chemical effect it. I've also read posts by men who experience this symptom so for some it can be purely anxiety driven.
Sometimes our greatest struggles is where we find our greatest growth. That certainly happened to me. I struggled with anxiety off/on since a teenager. This symptom at 46 yrs made me hit rock bottom. When it started I freaked out and for months I was in a constant state of panic seaching for the cause and monitoring my body symptoms. I went to multi doctors, had lots of tests, ct brain scan, specialists and LOTS of blood tests. All normal. I got to the point where I was angry at living in fear and said enough is enough!! I made a FIRM decision to change and started educating myself on anxiety. Not just self help books but books on physiology, books by doctors who had pet scan before/afters of proof, books on how the body works, etc. Then I used myself as a guinee pig and tried out different techniques I had learned. It wasn't easy and I had to discipline myself to keep trying even when I didn't believe there was anything to hope for. (Which I learned is actually because when the body is hypersensitized from stress the brain will divert "attention" away from the logic area of the brain instead focus on the "anxiety/flight/fight" areas with more blood/oxigen etc. That's why you may know your fears are illigical but you still fear them! Knowing all these physiological truths helped me push through. fyi; I'm putting this in common language for the sake of explaining here. But slowly I started to feel better, to change the way I think, and it snow balled for the better. I learned that the brain is placid and we can actually train our brains to think differently and to make new neuron connnections so you don't default to panic thoughts. Honestly, I never would have thought it was possible for me. I thought I was doomed to fear and had it worse then anyone else. So if there was hope for me there's hope for all! Now I am set free from fear. I still feel internal shaking at night but it doesnt botter me and it's not bad. Often accompanied by a hot flash. Sometimes it's so soft/light and only 1 time at night. About 1 week a month it's more frequent and bit stronger but I know it will pass and it doesn't bother me. I read something interesting on hormone changes at night.
I hope you feel better soon. Be hopeful.

I have been having this vibrating feeling inside. Weird almost like my blood is shaking. I describe it like my phone is in my pocket on vibrate. Constantly going off. Is this what you mean? I didn't know it was part of menopause
Yes, internal vibrating feeling is often described that having your cell on vibrate in your pocket.
For me it's not always the same strength or frequency. Sometimes it's a slight purr other times it's an internal shake with a pulse like rhythm. Sometimes it's my chest/left arm other times it radiates down to my left leg as well. It feels likes its coming from inside and radiating outward. For me I sleep fine until around 2 am then I feel the symptom lasting 30 seconds it stops, then repeats again every hour until I finally wake for the day. Other times it happens just once when I wake up in the morning. Although when it first started, I was full of anxiety not knowing what it was, it happened all day/night throughout my entire body. Adding anxiety to it makes it 10 times worse.
Many woman descibe this feeling during peri. I've also read a couple young women post the same feeling after stopping birth control or other long term hormonal contraceptives. Their symptoms seem to have been temporary as their body adjusted to the change.
I hope that description helps. I know it's an odd and disturbing feeling!
Thanks!!! I've had this feeling for almost a year now. But did not think I was in peri. I had no other issues. I mean body aches and pains but who doesn't have those. Just recently I've had numerous issues which they though was pneumonia. Then escaladed to this rage of some sort. They did not know what it is called it an allergic immune response. But I had hormones levels drawn and they showed pre menopause. My cycle was off during these two months both late and short but I thought it was because so was "sick". Well I haven't gotten one since February 28. I'm 44. My mom had hysterectomy and my grandmother went through at 44.
Here's my other symptoms. First off I had this two week period I called a rage and I had facial flushing. High BP. Palpitations. High heart rate. Hot flashes. Dizzy. Felt faint. Felt brain fog. Freezing hands feet. Tingling hands feet. Tinfly lils. Runny nose. No appetite. Severe anxiety.
The high BP stuck with me I've never had it before and now I'm on two meds. I also get all these weird feelings inside. Like squeezing in skin or muscles. Like pinching. It's weird. And I get these cool sensations like someone pouring cool water down my back and it's flowing through me. Burning skin feeling. itchy skin. Tremors. Shaky. Also feel like my skin is wet and it's not. Now I am not in a rage but I do have these symptoms randomly here and there but not this huge rage that I had in January. Does any of this sound menopause? I have appointment with OB Thursday. Thanks.
I can only share with your what I'm experiencing or heard others explain. It's alway best to see your GP or GYN for advice instead of dr. google. Dr. google often creates more anxiety!
If you have further concerns after seeing your doctor remember you know your body best and it's okay to seek a second opinion.
That said, I've heard others post similiar issues when going through peri/menopause. For me; I've had hair thinning, dry skin, weight gain around my waist area, sleep changes, hot flashes, zapping/buzzing feelings under my skin, and internal shaking/vibrating. Nothing raised my attenion until the internal shaking started. That freaked me out when it first happened.
I actually have seen her Twix editing this and we just figured my cycle was off for being sick and hoping it would get back in track and since it hasn't I am seeing her Thursday. Just looking for other experiences. Just like the vibrating I have been looking for someone experiencing that and this was the first I seen of it. It's nice to hear what others have experienced because we can support each other. Thanks!!!
Oh yeah my hair has been getting thin for a while. And unnoticed about 2 years ago I developed this wave in my straight hair lol. And yes weight gain like I have a tire around belly
