Hi
Does anyone else get the tight chest that comes on and is tight to breath ?
Oh yes! In fack I have it now. It comes and goes as does my hot flashes. The chest heaviest has lasted 3-4 months then goes away for a while. I have it back now and hot flashes are pretty much gone but I also have dizziness and low blood sugar. Hormones are HORRIFIC!!!!
Yes I have the dizziness and brain fog. The tight feeling comes on and feels like your ribs are closing in to. I wonder how long to the end of peri now. I'm 46
Yes I get this too. I think sometimes that it could be my heart or my lungs. But it usually dissapates. I don't get it too frequently but it is scary.
Yes - this came on approximately 6 months ago (5 yrs into my saga "the bizarre symptoms that haven't killed me so far..."
. It is another layered-on-weird sensation that is legitimately a physical *thing*. It did come about around the same time that I started having troubles swallowing/feeling of food getting stuck, and silent reflux issues (that I had never had before in my life). I wondered if it was related, but I've had the reflux come and go and this weird sensation come and go. It feels like a big band is around my upper ribs and I feel pressure in my back. I find it tight if I try to draw a big breath in and I feel that pressure. I track in on my Period App, to see if it's linked to any particular time in my cycle. The only saving grace is that it has gone away for some days at a time, so I figure that if it isn't progressing then it is likely linked to my hormone fluctuations. It took me some time to believe that it wasn't something more sinister, especially since I've been having troubling episodes of lightheadedness that can be quite frightening. I have a standing req. for an EKG, so when I experince that feeling next, along with dizziness/lightheadedness, my doctor suggested that I pop in and get the EKG done at that time. I do believe that it's related to a nasty peri-menopause though, but then again I'm having a good day today....
This is one of the most horrible symptoms I have. It makes my anxiety go through the roof. Ive had it for going on 9 months. Can't wait for it to end.
That's exactly what it feels like, a tight band is around your rib cage. That is what I have been experiencing today. I have not been able to eat that much today. I get that feeling right under my left breast at the top of my rib cage. Then my stomach was nervous off and on today too. It just gets to be too much sometimes!
Does yours Aldo feel like chest pains on both sides? I'm having that now . And anyone get burning chest pains?
Me too! My radiates around to my back. I had applesauce and broth and a couple crackers today.
Yes I feel it in my back sometimes too. Then it radiates to my shoulder and arm. It's really a bothersome thing.
Yes I get the burning chest thing too on one side and sometimes the other but mostly the left side. I attribute it to reflux.
Yes get that all the time. And wearing bra makes it worse so I wear tank tops instead.
One day I had that chest tightness sensation and I got dressed up to go out with the family and of course I was wearing a supportive bra. I felt like I couldn't breathe and my chest got so tight. It sent me straight into such a bad panic attack. We had to cancel out plans. All I could do was crawl into the bed and try to sleep and let the feelings pass. It was the worst thing ever! I usually wear this one particular bra that I have that is worn out now. I only wear it around the house or if I'm going up the street to the store or something like that. It does not offer much support at all. When my sister stops by and sees me she always asks why do I have my breasts hanging so low. It makes you look old she says. But at least I'm comfortable. I know all too well the misery I'd be in if I tightened the strap. I feel like at this point we have to do whatever it takes to survive these symptoms and if that means I have to go around with my boobs hanging low then so be it! She is in peri too (my sister) but she is one of those ones who is skating through it on a flowery bed of eaves. She had easy periods too! Some women just got off easier than the rest of us I guess.
Yes . For me it was mild anxiety attacks and I didn't know it!
The burning chest pain is the worst. I went to the ER with that one time. They told me I had GERD.
My shoulder was having pain about a half hour ago! It just keeps getting better and better!
Yep, have reflux too
Same thing here. Went to ER, and was diagnosed with Gerd
Yes definitely. ..it does make me anxious too. It feels like i am being squeezed around the bottom of my ribs. It usually accompanies my hot flushes...can't wait until its over and done with.
I get the funny to swallow feeling and acid reflux too. I also find it hard to breath. It's absolutely horrible. I can't believe this is all peri ! I've just no interest in myself and going anywhere.
