Perioral Dermatis treatment

Hi, I've only recently been told the rash I have is Perioral Dermatis.

So I have this rash that flares up at times for over 20 years!! My doctors prescribed steroid creams 😑😑😑 and I didn't know πŸ™. So anyway now I'm reading up on it & want to clear it up. First choice gel prescribed by dr is discontinued. So from a phone call she prescribed Rozex Gel - which is for Rosacea- which I don't have! Has anyone ever been prescribed this treatment?? I've taken the cream back because I don't want to use/buy something that is not even for my condition.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks 😊

Doctors do prescribe medication 'off label' sometimes & this could be an occasion.  You don't say what the other drug is

This is the Rosex Gel & it explains about it.

You should be guided by your doctor. Can you go & see her next week?

Most perioral dermatitis is caused by steroids. It's actually called TSW (topical steroid withdrawal syndrome/red skin syndrome) The only treatment is zero therapy which means no steroids. It's also said at height, the skin can't tolerate anything,so no moisturisers, no soaps, nothing.

I've not only been there, but am still there. You're not alone in this.

Let us know how you go

God bless

Not sure what Rozel gel is but I wouldn't use any steriodal creams on the face. Do you use Facebook? There's a very good Perioral Dermatitis support group on FB. Some treatments are more successful for some people but not others. The PD group on FB is a very active and helpful group as far as what works and what doesn't. Zinc oxide creams tend to work best for my PD.
