So, for the past 3 months i have had persistent pain that usually starts from the left side of my body and spreads to the navel and the right side coupled with nausea ,heartburn(when lying down) and weird sounds my abdomen makes. To describe the pain, its a sharp, sometimes when i move or even when stationery, there is also a burning sensation sometimes makes the skin in the area sensitive to touch. Other symptoms that i have are backache, its quite painful also starts from the shoulders all the way down to my buttocks( its feels like i have had a bad fall), the stomach pain also travels to the back(mid back), occasional diarrhea but that usually lasts a couple of days. I have noticed my stool is now yellow and has red streaks and sometimes white spots, i have also had fevers but that also lasted a couple days. I have been to the doctors and had three ultrasounds, one last year(noting only a slightly inflamed large intestine),then July and August, they all came out clear. I have had multiple blood stool test(including a H.pylori) which all came out clear except for the Fecal Calprotectin, the Doctor noticed a "slight increase" and i am to repeat it in a week. I have been given Omeprazole prescription which has helped with the heartburn and nausea but pretty much all other symptoms are unaffected. The Doctor seems convinced its Ulcers even though an endoscopy hasn't been carried out. I am female and 19 years old. I am in Pain and my mind is running wild waiting for next week, so any suggestion on what this might be would be so helpful.
My first thought was IBS. However, since you have raised fecal calprotectin, you will need to wait to see what a second test shows. Try relaxation therapy and distraction techniques to ease your anxiety while you wait for diagnosis. Only your doctor can give you accurate answers.
Thank you very much Pippa!
