I first had a panic attack in 1997. However I have been on antidepressant medication since 2003 at 20mg for anxiety and depression. However recently I have had a nasty setback due to a health scare regarding blood. This caused me to start worrying and I didn't tell anyone about the incident for a few weeks. The worrying then escelated to anxiety and I became constipated. This went on through christmas and the New Year. I ended up in A&E one night due to severe distress. I was diagnosed as suffring from chrinic health anxiety. Mornings are the worst time for me I wake up early and a wave of anxiety and fear comes over me along with restlessness in bed. I have lost nearly all interest in food. It is really upsetting and pretty awful. My medication dosage has been changed twice over the last few weeks with little or no effect. I am having a gastroscopy and colonoscopy done in 4 weeks. What worries me most now is my medication isn't effective.
Hi I am sorry to hear you are in such distress. It can take up to 4-6 weeks for the meds to get fully into your system so it might be just a case of waiting to see if they help.
I have had a colonoscopy recently but the worst part was drinking all the water and laxatives you have to have a day or two beforehand. One tip - I found after swallowing the drink following it with strong coffee really helps to take the taste away. The colonoscopy is nothing compared to the drink! Good lck. x
