I am starting week 6 with Mono and have been off of work the entire time. I have been taking it easy but trying to do more around the house lately.
For instance today I did about 10 minutes of light housework and the back of my neck and hair were sweaty. Sorry for the tmi but is this because I'm weak. I go to the market and come home put the groceries away and then have to lay down.
I just had my labs checked and everything was normal with the exception of low Vit D.
So sorry to hear you've been going through such a tough time with mono, empathising having went through a torrid time with the virus many years ago. Really want to reassure you that this is normal what you're going through, that sweating extra and feeling drained and fatigued is extremely normal for the stage you are at. This is the worst phase you are going through right now Leslie, it does get better with time and hang in there. Just cope with one day at a time is all you can do at this stage and make sure you get plenty of rest and remove stress as much as possible - easier said than done giving this virus is a terrible stress in itself!
Hoping and praying you feel much better soon, and remember don't panic if recovery doesn't come immediately, it can take time but know you will most definitely get there. Taking vitamins and herbs helped me, a good strong multi-vitamin per day, higher doses of Vitamin C (1000mg-3000mg per day), B complex vitamin per day (great for nervous system and energy levels) and immune boosting herbs like oregano, siberian ginseng and echinicea are great. And of course taking Vitamin D tablet too if you are low on that can make all the difference, just watch the maximum daily recommended dosage for each vitamin / herb taking and as long as you are within that it's all good.
Thinking about you and remember you ARE going to get through this and get better - take it from me as someone who was so down and unwell with this, God brought me through and I believe He's going to get you through this too - hang in there and message any time.
Hi! Tomorrow, it will be one year of Mono for me. Yep, I sweat easily too now. It's amazing how light housework will cause me to sweat. I have learned that as soon as I start feeling overheated to stop and rest. I hope you're over your Mono soon.
Thank You so much for all of your kind words and encouragement.
This is crazy, just when I get some energy and think that I'm improving, I end up back in bed. I've been taking B complex, B-12 (sublingual), vitamin C (I need to increase) and my doctor told me to take 5,000IU of Vitamin D because my D is low.
I've read your other responses to others and your kindness is very much appreciated!!!
Thank You very much.
How did your blood work go? Any news from your doctor?
Just thinking about your message there, obviously I don't know all the ins and outs but I know from my own experience going through something like this for a year is such a traumatic and draining and frightening experience. Really hoping things are more settled and moving in the right direction for you - my experience was that Year 2 was liberating and a year of recovery and joy thanks to God restoring my health gradually throughout that period.I hope and pray that you won't have to go through anything like this last year again, and even if it still takes a little time for things to be 100% or as near as again, remember that it will come and God willing you have weathered the worst and most intense period of this. Thinking about you!
It's so hard to keep encouraged when you experience these kind of setbacks, thinking about you and hoping you feel more settled again very soon and things can move in the right direction. There seems to be no reason or logic to the recovery graph of this thing, it can be so up and down and zig-zag, and that can often be the frustrating and mentally hard thing, when you see progress and feel like 'right this is finally going in the right direction' and then all of a sudden it seems to change direction again and stall.
It sounds like you are doing all the right things to help yourself Leslie, that's all you can do right now and remember look after yourself and take things slowly, give yourself time and space right now and don't force the issue of recovery, getting in the face of this thing and trying to 'power on' is what loads of folk (understandably and for the right reasons) do, but often the wise and wily approach to overcoming this virus is to take a step back, rest and take things slowly for a while - remember resting isn't giving up, resting is smart and wise when going through this and very much needed.
Well it was 12 years ago I had the virus, thanks to God only I was able to come through that, but at the time most of my blood tests were fine after the initial test which showed mono - and I remember it made me think well surely it can't be that going on all this time if my bloods are normal now. If that's ever the case Leslie, please know that it most likely still the mono and the post-viral period just take time to recover from, but that you will recover!! Definitely hoping that taking the high doses of Vitamin D can make a real difference.
Thanks for your kind words too and do keep in touch and let us know how things are going - thinking about you and absolutely believing thanks to God that you are going to get better from this thing, but hang in there for now!
