I had a very stressful day a week ago and that night, my left hand went heavy and tingly. I freaked out but managed to sleep. The next day, I read some posts about fibromyalgia (definitely a bad idea for someone with health anxiety) and ever since, I've been getting these physical symptoms. I get random aches/pain in my arms and legs including my upper/lower arms and legs, wrists, ankles etc. The pain is not too intense and I can manage it fine. Also, it isn't constant but I feel it randomly throughout the day especially when I think about it (which is almost all day when I'm not working). I read about fibromyalgia being triggered by high emotional stress and now, I can't get it out of my head. I keep thinking about me having it even though I don't have ALL the symptoms or at least not yet. I do much better when I'm distracted and do not have constant pain which leads me to think that it could be my anxiety. Can this just be my anxiety triggering my physical symptoms after reading about it?
I suffer with health anxiety and my symptoms are alot worse when im overthinking things.
Yeah I’m stuck in a overthinking loop these past few days and keep having these symptoms. It’s really taking a toll on me both physically and mentally.
Physical symptoms from anxiety can feel so much like something is wrong, it’s hard to discern whether it is or not. Personally, I can’t read the side effects of any medication I take, as I’ll end up getting some of them if I do! I know googling different symptoms can be helpful and point you in the right directions, or help you learn about what you’re experiencing, but try not to focus too much on it, that can definitely make your anxiety worse. If possible, you could try and see a doctor about the symptoms you’re having, to put your mind at ease. x
