Physio

I am 7 weeks post op, on one stick, swollen ankle at the end of the day😒 But driving.

Would a physio help me recover faster?

I am four weeks Post Op and have been seeing a physio weekly. I have found it very worthwhile. I am walking without aid mist of the time.

Hi Freya,

Are you doing your exercises? I met with physio 7 times, they teach you a few tricks and exercises, make you walk inside, outside, on uneven grass, up the road....   I know my feet and ankle swell after a fair amount of walking.

I guess its a perosnal choice thing.

Hi freeya and wow yes

Its not what u think tge physical tgerapist knows everything u need to find out where it hurts what moves

They give u exercises u do at home

They roll down your legs and thighs they stretch u

U ride bike use machines

Its a long process of change

I am at just two months and walked all weekend no cane all day and 3 miles around lake reminding myself of postures etc

Tge app metronome will help too all the best keep us posted

Jozie

Hi, what is the metronome app?

Hi Freya.I think so.The Physical Therapist know how to improve ease of movement. They can show you how to improve those muscle groups you use to drive.I think they are very intuitive

Great to help with cadence

As you progress

Use app listen to clucks to help your smoothness of walking

Such as if one keg is behind a little as your new walk develops after surgery

Jozie🙋

Listen to clicks

If one leg is behind

Morning are you in the UK ? Your lucky if you can get to see one in my part of England I've had to

fight to get physio since I had my op 10 weeks

post op and was only given different exercises to do,before they agreeged to physio I was told I'd have to pay and they gave me the number of

Physio (90pounds for 45minutes) ha very disappointing. Hugs xxx

For us here in the USA isn't that about $250/hr. Wow! Physical Therapy is really beneficial, you can learn how to do exercises yourself with a little guidance.

Hi Freya

lots of good physio exercises on YouTube if you google Hip replacement exercises, u can be more specific adding your weeks post op.

regards dot

Thank you Dorothy that's what I've been

doing . Hugs xx

Personally, I think it's essential to have a good physio.  They can see what you are doing wrong (you cannot possibly see this yourself), and can advise on correcting your old wonky walking habits.

I totally agree Graham - position is key to getting full effect.. Plus you can check unusual symptoms wth your physio and get tailored exercise for muscles needing extra help.i think it is a good Investment in your future health and given the sweat and tears that go into recovery ..

Big hugs Freya.
