Hi everyone good news I got my pin out today never felt a thing worried about nothing I can put my feet in water again and try to get into slippers or something still a bit of pain but getting there
Super! My surgeon may have been overly cautious but when pins (I had two toes with them) removed he did say I could shower but not to immerse foot in water until a couple of days later to give the tiny holes time to close.
Mine told me tomorrow night

How long since your op Elizabeth ? I don't see my surgeon till 10 weeks after op and no-ones mentioned getting pin out in fact I was told i might beep at the airport scanner when going on holiday so assumed it was left in
6 weeks and 2 days since my opp
I got mine out at 5 weeks but what we are talking about is removable pins as opposed to the permanent ones that you probably have.. They are pins (or k-wires) that stick out of your foot until pulled for removal. This pic is 12 days post op at stitch removal. There is one pin sticking out between the bit toe and the 2nd toe and one sticking out of the 2nd toe.

Fab it doesn't hurt a bit and like you I was terribly worried. Foot sore for a few days after. Advised to wait 24 hrs post pin removal before soaking foot in bath. Onwards and upwards I start back at work tomorrow.

Great news! My appointment is in an hour's time so I'm even more chillled about it!
Bandages off at long last but another three days until the pin is removed as there were no x-ray appointments available. But I can now say goodbye to the heel-walking shoe and have a shower without wearing the waterproof protector. Definitely a step forward, even with the pin staying in for a few more days. Hope you are enjoying being pin-free!
