Pinky Finger is wonky and clicks

I have recently noticed that the pinky finger on my right hand looks very deformed. As you can see from the picture it doesn’t go straight down, but instead points at a near to 45 degree angle. If I let my hand relax, it goes under my ring finger and constantly rubs against it. When straightening all of my fingers, my little finger doesn’t straighten fully.

Secondly, whenever I push my fingertips into my palm, the little finger makes a clicking noise and the movement is quite snappy.

I use a computer mouse quite often, resting my pinky on the side of it and am wondering if this change in the finger is a result of this?

Any help would be much appreciated :slight_smile:

Looks like “trigger finger”. The tendon in your finger has become swollen and is finding it difficult to pass through the tendon sheath.
The first treatment is usually to take an anti inflammatory like Ibuprofen , 2x3times per day for 5 days. If not successful…
You can also have steroid injections into the tendon, which work well.
There are also exercises you can do
Usually the last resort is to operate on your hand , but the results are good.
Loads of info on the web about this condition…its quite common.

Does the ibuprofen get rid of the condition?

In mild cases yes it does,but often not permanently. Its worth trying the Ibuprofen which should ease the swollen tendon. You may find you need no further treatment for a year or so.
