We had those horrible worms as kids, but then they were gone, for nearly 20 years. However, two years ago I got them again, took tons of OTC meds, and one from GP, none of them killed the worms, as I (sorry it's gross) can feel and see them 24/7. I keep washing like mad, added lots of diet supplements that dont work. All in vain. I feel so ashamed, dirty, disgusting, I avoid people and think about the creatures all the time. I haven't slept one quiet night for 2 years now. I read about strong wormers on the Internet, some abroad GPs recommend them, but they are sold here for animals, so I'm scared... but at the same time desperate, I can't
live like that anymore......Also, I was infected by an African kid, does it matter ? I mean, maybe these worms are somehow different / resistant to meds I used? Any ideas?
I know how you feel. I've been trying to get rid of them for a while now, also have had lots of medication. Have you tried taking meds twice a day for 3 days straight then repeat in 12 days?
Hi Sigh, yes I have tried it, I mean Ovex, and some own brand from Boots. None worked. Maybe you know of something stronger? I read some names on the internet, Iver- something, but I'm scared as it's only sold for pets in the UK wonder if it's really harmful for humans, probably not. I took loads of Ovex, then visited my GP who prescribed me .. Ovex, but under a different name. Shame...
Gosh seems like there's something going on in the uk the local threadworm should be easy to get rid off just as it was in your childhood, but this must be a different type as so many struggle to beat it and gps are clueless. I think it's a tropical types that must have been brought here from abroad
yes, I absolutely agree, also thought it's not normal that all the meds and hygiene, etc don't work at all, must be some new species or some flipping resistant one
No havent tried albendazole but had ordered some stuff from the US which was I reckon the same.... didn't work. So I think your theory is right .
actually, probably I did not take the doses like you say, I definitely will give it a go.
Also, about the idea it may be some new species; ( sorry for gross details,) but I know the parasites me and my siblings had as kids were totally different , they looked different, were bigger. I remember it clearly. So the only hope is that some scientists will move their butts and start research and invent something.. as generally speaking, doctors dont treat it seriously, and looks like so many people really suffer, even for YEARS.... as this website shows. Feel for them all
There's a lady on this website she posted a while ago but apparently got rid of them by doing the twice a day medication for all the family, so today we finished our first 3 days, will repeat in 2 weeks. The kids are so fed up and down I've stopped all heir treats and pudding, even limit yogurt and fruit as it's full of sugar too. I'm fed up and stressed too as all I do on my days off work is run round cleaning hoovering washing mopping ironing and it's never ending.
how big are the ones you have now? We just keep greeting lots of white dots which are prickly and itchy
Poor kids no sweets.... it apparently helps, also lots of sour products.
As for looks, I'm talking about very, very thin white, sometimes almost transparent , very itchy critters but they differ to the nightmares of my childhood
Yes we'll not just sweet but anything remotely sweet like yogurts and juice and biscuits, so they are rather traumatised and I get very stressed ever time we are out as all they ask for is sugar containing stuff naturally because it's forbidden fruit at the mo. Yes they are almost transparent, but strange thing is we haven't seen adult ones for nearly 2 months, instead it's lots of white or almost translucent dots in our underwear. They are also very itchy, and I can feel as every single one is emerging its a horrid prickly sensation. Do you get anything like that?
Too early to tell, we've had our first round of twice a day for 3 days, second round at the end of next week, hoping so much it'll make a difference as otherwise I'll not know anymore? Also spent nearly 100 pounds on herbal supplements for me and the kids to start after round 2. I've had very itchy ears, though not sure if the meds would kill them everywhere or only in digestive tract...
Hi Martha, how are you getting on? Still got them? I've had threadworms for 5 years now and I can't seem to get rid of them either...tried it all....none in my family has ever had it, it's only me who gets it every time...not sure what to do!!
