I have anxiety and depression and I have posted a couple of questions on here asking for advice. Some of this was very helpful and thank you to those who replied with advice.
The whole experience has been horrendous though- the tribunal was in Monday- very gruelling but fair- but I'm still in a state about it!
I am currently awaiting a mandatory reconsideration decision re ESA which was stopped in August. I had to attend the Job Centre on Tuesday to start a claim for Job Seekers as I have v little income. The whole thing was ridiculous - I could barely speak to the lady - who was v kind- and kept trying not to cry and get in a panic.
I worked full time as a nurse for nearly 20 years and now that I can't work, I'm made to feel as though I'm lying about my health.
So your saying your pip has been granted? Sorry I'm not sure if your asking how long before payment sent
Looks like you were, once you have your award letter it will be backdated so you want lose anything bit as for how long before they pay you, not sure, could be 2 weeks or up to 8
From what I have read on this forum initial payments for PIP can take 4-8 weeks to come through.
I have my assessment on 30th and not looking like the hospital are going to have my Consultant letter typed in time as they have a backlog. I can't get about very well at all at the moment due to loss of balance on my left side (Vestibular Rehabilitation doesn't start until 20th Oct) so my appointment may well be a waste of time. VR is not a cure but should help prevent my falls. The people who conduct these test would be better served spending a morning/afternoon with claimants in their homes etc to see first hand how their illness affects them. The cost of all these appeals would probably cover it. It seems to me that nearly EVERY claimant ends up appealing. Its atrocious. So glad to hear you won your appeal and I hope you don't have to wait too long for your award. Having financial difficulties on top of a stressful illness is not pleasant at all. .
Hi Sweepie3 u just hit the nail on the head thinking no 1 believes you. I have been awarded standard rate on both so I ask for a mandatory reconsideration on mobility only just got some letters off the hospital and the doc. So just like u coz there can't see the problem u feel that they are not interested. Yes it's hard when things like this happen I was a grounds man back went that's it no more work then u feel like sh--t
Well done Sweepie. Going through a Tribunal when you suffer with Mental Health problems is such a daunting task but you have been brave enough to stand up for yourself.
Hopefully there will now be a sea change in the way you are viewed and the ESA is awarded and you are placed in the Support Group.

It is hard, isn't it. I was even told by a mental health worker to lay it on thick at the appeal or exaggerate everything. But I couldn't do this as it felt like an act- I just had to be myself and I pleased I won the appeal and have my integrity intact.

It terrible what you have to go through to get what you are entitled to- this has been an eye opener for me as so many people assume that being on benefits is easy.
