PIP change of circumstances

I get standard rate for both and my condition has deteriorated and am applying for change of circumstances. I would appreciate any help on how to tackle the forms and pitfalls to avoid

Thanks in adavance

First thing is its important to get medical evidence from your consultant, GP or other health professionals you are seeing explaining that your condition has got  deteriorated Darkchild and then you can either contact one of the advice centres as they will give you good advice about it or look online under Personal Independence under changes that affect your PIP as there are many good sites that can offer you good advice on what to do and what not to do. pe

Hi,

Reporting a change of condition is risky as most people will tell you. This is because your claim will be treated as a new one and not a review, so the form they'll send you is exactly the same as the very first time you applied, the PIP2 form (how your disability affects you) You would fill it out with as much detail as possible. You'll be better off asking someone who knows what they're doing to help you fill it out. Evidence is the key, send as much as possible and dont leave it to them to gather this because they very often don't. Reporting changes doesn't mean your award will be increased automatically. It could either stay the same, increase or you could even lose everything. For this reason i always advice people to think before they report anything. You'll more than likely be asked to attend another face to face assessment and this will be just like the first time. How long do you have left on your existing award and have you already reported these changes?

Exactly what i was going to say Denise, even years ago when my hubby was thinking of applying for the DLA  his consultant put him off by saying be carefull as ive know some to get it but lose their driving licence in the proccess and we are only talking abour rhematoid arthritis hear too.  He left it many years before he did apply, got the higher rate and never lost his drvers licence.  Now of course he is about to lose all his DLA, got the PIP assesment  end of this month so its bye bye benefits for him. Then next it will be me, neither of us are exspecting to get anything at all. lack of backup, not seeing any specialist , under no consultants any more, im afraid all his letters and back up disappeared years ago.  If only he had been born in 1948 instead of 1949, they woukld have left him alone!

Thanks. Can you recommend any websites please

Hi Denise

Yes I have already the changes and I only have about 9 months left on current award

Would also like to know what changes have there been since 2 years ago

Changes for what?

As you've already reported the changes you would need to fill out the form exactly as you did the first time you applied and send all the evidence in to support your claim. The process would be the same as the first time. Most likely another face 2 face assessment would be needed. Good luck.
