I've had PF since i joined the military 3 years ago. The excessive standing and walking/ running has made it unbearable. I have tried several inserts but none of them could support my foot because my arch is so high that the insert couldn't even touch my arch. 1.5 months ago, i had surgery done on my left heel and i can tell that the operation helped until i put my combat boots on. They absolutely tear up my feet. Does ANYONE know of an insert that could help me? When i say my arches are high, i mean it. My friends laugh at me (in good faith of course) when they see how high they are. I was supposed to get my right heel operated on next month but my doctor is booked for too long. so with a deployment coming up it looks like ill be toughing it out until February of 2015 =[ I just need something that can help. This is getting so bad. A 23 year old that cant stand for more than (very literally) 30 seconds without terrible pain...unbelievable
Hi there, I know exactly what you mean. I've had PF in my left foot for years, the result of a pregnancy complication, which has been continuously exacerbated by my work which has me on my feet for up to 10 hours a day. I've tried just about everything to try and get some relief, and was actually shocked by a recent discovery which has really helped.
I bought a pair of FS6 Compression Foot Sleeves, which you can get online. They pull on like a pair of socks and can be worn under regular socks so you can't even see them. They come in flesh colour which is great if you need to be a bit more discrete. They are remarkably light and comfortable when you put them on, and the beauty of them is that they mould to your feet and give support under your arch no matter how high or low your arch is.
I wear mine all the time, including when I go to bed. I've only had them for around a week, and for the first time in years I can get out of bed in the morning and not have to limp around like an old lady.
I would also suggest these to you because my ex was in the Army and I know you are limited with what you can use because of the uniform requirements.
BTW, there are other brands of foot sleeves which I haven't used, so I don't know if they're of the same quality.
Hope this helps and good luck to you.
Thank you for the advice. I just placed an order on amazon for that product. They said it should be arriving within the next two days. I'll make sure to post the result after I wear them around for a couple days.
I'm interested to read your post of 8 months ago. I saw a highly recommended Specialist Podiatrist in Elgin, Morayshire. I too have extremely high arches, and do not walk well on hard ground. My feet are now taped and bound for 12 days, and today I got out of bed with little discomfort, unbelievable. I have a return appt in 4 weeks, when he'll take a cast impression of my feet, and will have a perfect arch profile for the new insoles This treatment is private, and I have to say my NHS Podiatrist falls very short. I was simply given standard insoles, all rather lacking in specialist knowledge. I just wondered if you knew about these custom made insoles, though I do appreciate how debilitating your PF is for you. I had tried 2 previous Podiatrists, before I found this marvellous Elgin Practice.
