I'm well aware this is a pmr forum, so I'm asking for all your indulgence right now. I've been on this forum for apprx 8-9mo.....it's been invaluable to me and I feel I've come to "know" many of you.... some of you may be aware I live in the USA, California to be specific. our state is on FIRE right now....from top to bottom....wealthy folks and not..... at latest count, (and it's changing hourly)....40+dead, 1 city wiped out, 100k+lost homes, 200k+in shelters....on, and on, and on! the air is SO thick and black, heavy and smokey....you can't even see the iconic Golden Gate Bridge! I'm posting this to let you-all know how dire things are right now AND ultimately how it's affecting my health aside from all the chaos and complete STRESS..... my throat is RAW, my eyes are a mess (watering and Burning) I'm having trouble breathing and wondering if I may be on the verge of a flair! with that being said, my problems are FAR less than SO many! please send your good thoughts and prayers..... again, I apologize for hijacking this medical forum. thanks for your ears and your time! affectionately, Lynda

Oh, Lynda, it must be so worrying and frightening for you. I can't begin to imagine how it feels for you to be in the midst of such devastation and the suffering you are experiencing. I don't know what to say but I have been thinking about you and wondering if you are safe especially when we see it on the news. I do hope you are safe. The stress as you have indicated is not good for PMR. I can only hope that rain will come to dampen the fires and extinguish them. Sending a virtual hug. You are in my thoughts.

Oh Lynda, our thoughts and prayers are certainly with you. We watch with horror what is happening on our TVs and just wish we could sent you some of our rain! thinking about you all! Freda

thank you SO much silver...yes, the devastation is horrific! The really scary part is at this moment there's no END in sight! the winds have picked up again this p.m.....we need rain SO BADLY! everything's so dry!! thanks for your kind words....I'm kinda hangin on to everything positive right now!

Are you in an area which will be relatively safe from the actual fire? Thinking of you. I grew up in bush fire prone Australia. I remember vividly, the feeling of your life depending upon which way the wind would blow. The news is keeping us up to date with your out of control situation. My thoughts are definitely with you.

hi flutterbie...I'm approx 75m south of one fire ...the other is further south of me....in Hollywood/Malibu area. just heard on the news the air quality is deemed unhealthy here till AT LEAST Friday! they're telling people w/breathing problems (that would be me!) to stay indoors....kinda difficult to do when you've NOTHING to eat! we even used the last of our butter last night! JEEZ, Louise! the air is Almost unbearable....

No apologies necessary, this is a tragic situation. Just talked to our son who moved out of CA recently. He has former friends and coworkers out there.

Aren't the government doing anything at all to get supplies to you? Surely the local shops/supermarkets are trying to supply their customers somehow.

thank you Constance....very much appreciated! it's 12midnight right now, and I'm So "keyed" up I can't sleep. my eyes have gotten progressively worse thru the evening....double vision is on overdrive (I suspect in part due to the burning and watering they're doing. my hands are SO stiff and painful I can Barely type right now. I musn't complain, I've Still got a roof over my head, which is a TON more than others have tonight! keep sending prayers....

We watch the news from California with horror and disbelief and sinking hearts.

What will happen to those without insurance? Is it possible to insure when these wildfires happen every year?

Hope the weather comes to your aid very soon.
