was misdiagnosed with herpes a couple of times but have recently had blood tests to definitively confirm I am herpes free, and also chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis negative . I am therefore at a bit of a loss.
My symptoms are one or two chronic herpes-looking blisters around my anus (I've had them for years)- they go from not bothering me at all to being mildly itchy and uncomfortable to (very rarely) being throbbingly painful. They are often worse if I smoke heavily, spend time in strong sun, or am generally a bit run down. They are also uncomfortable if I don't clean myself properly after defecating (so I have taken to always washing with water and soap after going to the toilet, which helps).
I'm not sure if each blister recurs in the same place but it seems that they will often lay dormant and then I'll have a flare up. Like I said, I pretty much have it chronically (all the time). It may have been transmitted during anal sex. Any ideas? I am waiting for an appointment with the dermatologist but this takes months in Portugal where I live.
