For a while now I've been poorly..been seeing my gp as my migrane got worse...terrible dizzy spells...my ibs got worse..very tired...

However I ignored other things going on as I didn't want to sound like a hypochondriac. .

Recently when out on my moped I noticed a weird sharp electric shock above my right eyebrow..

It didn't happen all the time but got more frequent..

Then a slight breeze on my face started this weird shock. .

On way to church last Sunday I got the shock so I google it and saw Trigeminal neuralgia...I thought wow im not a freak I'm not alone.

However with it bring Christmas and new year I've not been able to see gp

My arm on left hand side has also started getting pins and needles n my fingers so numb.

Tonight I was really excited as going to a friends new year party...got dolled up...just as the kids and hubby started enjoying themselves after being there an hour an immense pain went into my lower right teeth n jaw...

I tried to ignore but it throbbed n hurt so bad I said I think I've knocked a filing out...

I went n looked in mirror but couldn't see a thing the pain was unbearable. .

I grabbed my coat n left sobbing in pain .

I feel awful as my family were really enjoying it but  I'd never felt pain like it..

As I walked home I got the shock above my eye..

The weird thing is my whole right arm went weak n my thumb hurt when my jaw did...

I went home n in panic rang 999 ...as the pain eased off whilst the on the phone I've got to wait to see gp when it open again...

I'm left with a dull ache on my right jaw n my thumb 

I'm so scared if my future is this what's in store for me? I'm a phobic of taking medications. ..I'm just so scared

You have TN. Yes it is ridiculously painful but manageable with medication. Your case sounds very similar to mine which started 2007. I'm on tegretol. You need to get to a neurologist asap. If not possible, go to the emergency room. They will write the script for the short term. I was forced to do that in 07. You'll get immediate relief. Good luck.

So sorry to read about your widespread discomfort. Yes, it sounds like TN but make a plan and stick to it.

1. See your GP and make a note of the things you want to say - stay calm and in control.

2. Insist that you get a referral asap to see a specialist, a neurologist, and be prepared to pay for a one-off appointment, if you are likely to have to wait. You need support now.

3. Trust the medication - as Eddie has said, Tegretol is very effective, so try to overcome the phobia regarding drugs, as you cannot deal with this unaided.

Good luck, be kind to yourself and make sure all your family know you need support with this. Colin

I am so fearful of this

I've never heard of it and do have to wonder why me? Just as my life was starting to go really well.

Obviously I looked it up on Google and have scared myself I may have ms due to all my other problems ..symptoms...

I don't want to sound like a Google doctor when I go see my gp lol

I've woken up free from the pain. ..its easy to forget it happened apart from my tear stained face.

It was so deliberating...All I could do was clutch my face and pace back and forth. People kept asking ne questions or giving toothache advice which made me stress n the pain intensified. ..hence why I had to run from the party.

It's new years day n ill be lucky to see go tomorrow I can never get in..then it's the weekend.

I can't go to out of hours it's a 4 to 5 hour wait in there and I have 4 children. ..1 with autism.

My husband is mega busy this weekend so I can't do it..

Fingers crossed I get to see my gp tomorrow and remain pain free today xx

Yes, get to see your GP ASAP - use whatever route you can as your case is urgent and stress that. It's good to read about disorders on Google - knowledge is power but don't spout it all out when you see your GP. Explain your symptoms then let her/ him make the diagnosis. GPs hate being told what's wrong by the patient!

Whatever the family demands are, you are going to have to become no.1 priority - get your husband to help with the children, get the focus on you and get to see that specialist!! Stay strong - I had cancer 10years ago, just after getting married - 'Why me?' I asked, after everything was going so well! Sh*t happens - get some help - the best going and put yourself first!

I'm afraid after my daughter died I struggle with the sh*t happens attitude but I'm deffo getting up 8 am n trying to see gp tomorrow.

I'm holding the pain back today..its like it's there. ..waiting to spike in agony

I hate it!

Electric shock hits for a while, then goes away is another symptom we share. 

GP is not the right kind of doc. Neurologist often takes some time to get an 

Appointment. Be ready to go to emergency room when hits again. Someone will

Have to drive you and help with children. ER will prioritize you above 4 hours

and require follow up with neurologist. It's worth it! You need medication!

Good detective work. I have MS but let doc determine!

Totally agree with Eddie. You need to see a physician first, it could be your GP - someone will have to refer you to a specialist - but a hospital is a more direct route and may well cut down the time you have to wait. You need treatment ASAP!

Guys around my nose tonight I feel sunburnt. 

Is that another problem?

IPhone a pain writing replies. Are too many varieties of symptoms to list. Nose is part of it. You're going to have to learn what you are prone to. First things first. Get diagnosed and medication. Then you'll be prepared when it strikes.
