I was on Zoloft 200 mg for 5 years. Have been off it for 3 weeks. Notice irritability (I can handle it) but what I CANNOT HANDLE is the pulsing/squeezing in my ears and my head) I don't think it is pulsatile tinnitus (I have tinnitus and it doesn't bother me, plus it isn't pulsing along with my heart. Plus it's my whole head). I asked Dr. who said it's "stress" (ha ha), and another dr. tell me it's not a symptom at all. Please--anyone out there have this? Can you help?
I also discontinued Sertraline three weeks ago and I have the same problem. My sleep has also become really fragmented. I feel dizzy as well. I don’t believe it is stress but these symptoms are likely to increase anxiety. Keep posting as it will be useful to compare symptoms.
Did you taper off or come off all at once? If you just stopped without tapering at that length of time and that high of mg you can be in for some bad side effects, also known as the sertraline flu. Maybe you should talk to another Dr who has a little more experience in coming off of antidepressants because those you spoke with seem to have no clue! You need a good taper down program and that would greatly help with your side effects.
I had a heart beat in my ears when I put my head on the pillow
THANK YOU THANK YOU. I so needed to hear from someone else. I feel like banging my head into a wall.
I tapered off very very slowly over three months, I think...I never heard of the sertraline flu, but just knowing about it actually made me feel better.
Oh that sounds awful! Mine is no so much a heart beat as this pulsing, like I've turned into a human wah-wah pedal. thank you all for responding so quickly. It's so important to get facts from people going through this.
