Ill try to make this short and sweet. So im 21 years old, and i lost my virginity at 19. Up until now, i only had sex with that one guy and once we broke up i refrained from sex and everything else in the middle (oral,etc). About 2 years later, i get into another relationship and i started having sex again (oral, p in v). This new guy and i have been having sex multiple times a week and unfortuntley, without a condom on most days. Ive gotten checked for STI/blood work done a few months after the first guy and i broke up, everything was negative.
Now this brings me to my problem today. This past monday i woke up with pimple like bumps on my vagina ( vulva, labia). I noticed more bumps everyday and they hurt. I went to my GYNO on Wednesday and she said that its most likely herpes but she didnt prescribe me anything until she knows for sure. I am prepared to accept that i have genital herpes. Considering my sexual history, i am compelled to believe that my current boyfriend is the one who gave it to me. How do i break the news to him? Also, him and i have sex often so do i tell him the news before i am diagnosed? i have already been refraining from sex with him by giving excuses but i am at the point of a break down because 1) I am nervous to tell him,2) i am almost positive he gave it to me and 3) I dont want this to end the relationship. So should i just tell him now or wait it out? As mentioned earlier , we have sex so often it will be weird to keep denying it without telling him the truth.
side note: i also got checked for bacterial STI’s this week and it all came back negative. We are waiting for the swab results.
this is something you should be able to discuss with your partner. Just let him know what happened and say you are waiting for a proper diagnosis. Do you know the last time he himself got tested? and if that test even included herpes? I know this is weighing on you heavily, but none of it is your fault, and discussing sexual health is something a couple should be able to do.
