that looks like herpes. if you want i can show you a comparative picture if you pm me. i was diagnoser yesterday. dont touch it to try to minimize spreading but the sooner you get to the doctor and get swabbed the better. the same thing happened to me. the sores turn to ulcers and thats when the pain really starts. if the doctor thinks its herpes you can get started on antivirals asap which should help shorten the length of the outbreak. the timeline also matches up with having a new sexual partner. considering the location of the sore as well it looks like it wouldve been part of his genital area NOT covered by a condom as well which im assuming means he couldve given it to you. good luck 
lets hope its HSV1, since that can happen if he gave you oral.
