Please help is this lichen sclerosus?

does this look like LS? I've had this for a while, but i recently noticed what appears to be a blood blister on the front of my vulva. I read that blood blisters can also be a symptom of LS. image

Hi there obviously I’m no doctor but I do have the condition and the first thing I noticed was blood blisters … at the time my GP said it was not serious and nothing to worry about but some years later I was diagnosed with LS. I have read online that it is a common occurrence in LS and I still have them, some stay for a long time. The skin also has the appearance of LS to me but, again, I am no doctor. I suggest you see your GP .. do you have any other symptoms like itching or soreness ? If you believe this to be the case do not let it go as treatment is so important to slow the progression. I wish you well.

Yep, I too had a couple of blood blisters before I was diagnosed. I would say it’s LS for sure but you should try and see a doctor and tell them what you think it is because many of them don’t know what LS looks like. if the doctor seems unsure then ask for a referral to see someone who does. I would ask for steroid ointment in the meantime to keep it under control as you may have to wait a while for another appointment.

there was some soreness when I first noticed the blister, no excessive itching though. Can I ask what your blood blisters looked like? mine isn’t a circular shape, its long and kind of thinner

Hi, as Paula found with Her GP, they are often not sufficiently knowledgable about Genital Skin Disorders such as LS. If you draw a blank from your GP, then look for a Vulval Disorders Specialist department in the region in which you live … such Specialist can either be from a Gynaecological background or a Dermatologist specialising in (Women’s) Genital Skin Disorders …

Hi again Bella they are mostly round/oval in shape. I started with excessive itching which the doctor prescribed aqueous cream for but it hurt a lot so I stopped that. When I was finally diagnosed it was definitely pain that was the issue. Get a referral if you can, I wish I was diagnosed sooner.Keep us posted here, there is a lot of advice. In the meantime coconut oil would do no harm, it works wonders for me thanks to this forum advising to use it.

Mine started with petetchia which is what you are describing, we can also get ecchymosis which are posh words for bleeding under the skin. Cycling on a road bike started my whole L S problem due to trauma. Wonder if your skin has been trapped in any way with trousers seams or pressure?

Mine went with the dermovate
