Hello I've been depressed for 4 years... and since April this year I've been put on Prozac... it has helped me a lot from chest pain in the morning disappear to being better then I upped it middle of May to 30mg , (a pill and a half) ... now we are here in July and I am getting more crazy then usual I am already bipolar enough and it is getting bad and at points I get more suicidal then usually I can't tell if it is the medicine or what ... someone please help me on what to do I'm 17 years old and don't know what to do anymore

Hi Sweetie!

First off, you're going to be ok ❤️❤️ So how many weeks have you been at 30mg?

Hi Kylie, Sorry to see you are having problems. I am a old guy 77. I have seen a whole lot more of life than you, lets pretend i'm your fairy grand dad. Make your doctors your best friends, tell them everything, they can and will help you get better.

Split up your problems into little bits, tackle them one at a time, that will make it easier, You are a wonderful young person, with a wonderful life to come. Smile at someone and ask them to pass it on (it works). The very best of good fortune, you are a valuable member of society, Grand dad John

Hi Kylie...

Do you find yourself getting more suicidal around your monthly cycle at all? Have you had your hormone levels checked? You are right at that age that your body can be doing some weird and wonderful stuff so if I was you I would ask your Doctor to check your hormone levels, also iron levels, Vitamin D, and anything else they can add in the mix including Thyroid. You need to also start tracking when you feel really bad... get yourself a time line going... is it on certain dates.. where are you during your cycle when it happens... what time of day is it happening.. what time did you wake up and go to bed... by doing this you may be able to see if it is more so your body than the medication doing things. The reason I mention this is that I have a niece very close to your age and she has some real up and downs and they ended up putting her on the birth control pill to help her feel more stable. Also if you have made it to 30mg it just may be the case that you need to go up to 40mg. Do not be scared of that.. I am on 40mg myself... it does take time to find our balance with this medication but it will happen. Also remember that these medications are not made to make all of our feelings and lifes stresses just disappear. You will still have crappy days and you want them instead of always being a robot. What you do not want though is to not be able to snap out of them... you need to when you are having a down day just say to yourself "I am having a crappy day and that is perfectly OK I am human"

Last but not least... I am unsure if you have someone you are talking to as well. Sometimes outside issues can really way us down in life and no matter how much medication we take these things are not going to go away!! If you do not see a Psych then you may want to see about getting one and maybe you can work on ways of how to deal with anxiety and stress... whether from breathing techiniques.... yoga, smacking a pillow... but there are ways.

I hope this helps!
