Guys I need help. I believe I have depersonalisation, which is causing stress and anxiety. I have had this feeling of being out of my body, disconnected from the world and conversations, drowsiness, dreaming ALL of the time, just totally out of it. The doctor seems to be half focusing on it and half focusing on a ear problem. Even though a CT and MRI has car back negative. He thinks it may be minears disease and has referred me to a specialist for ears in Melbourne.
I was wondering if any of you have any idea how I can get rid of this zoning out problem I have. It has effected my life. No work and barely any venturing out of my bedroom. It is always there but gets worse and slightly better at random parts of the day.
Any tips at all would be great?
Someone has suggested chiropractor...
wondering if this may help?
Any herbal remedies, activities or anything at all?
Thanks guys. Please help me I can’t cope with this forever
Hello there, depersonalization is a symptom of anxiety, I know it's scary but it's your brains way of protecting you from all the anxiety and stress. You need to accept this feeling and carry on the way you would if you didn't have depersonalisation (I know it's hard and scary) the more you are doing normal things and relax more then your brain will realise you don't need protecting anymore and the depersonalisation will dissappear. Are you on any medication? Because starting out on medication can cause you to be depersonalised. I'm here to help if you have any questions. Xx
HI Pamela, thank you so much for your responses. I am on a lot of medicines. which all make me drowzy which starts the cycle of anxiety stress etc. I was on steriods for the ears, stemetil, serc for the ears. Now been offered anti depression tablets (which I don’t really wanna start) also on pills which drain fluids from my body (hoping to drain fluids from my ears for minears) Valium to bring my anxiety down, and 2 lower dosage forms of Valium to have a similar effect.
I may think drinking caffeine could bring on anxiety for me as I drink a hell of a lot of fizzy drink. But this wouldn’t be the cause of my initial problem as I’ve always done this my whole life.
Any suggestions? Thanks
Dan
Hi dan it sounds like the root cause of your depersonalisation is anxiety, once the anxiety is under control the depersonalisation will leave. If you think medication will help with your anxiety why not try it? I know antidepressants will make you feel worse for the 1st week or so, but it will be worth it. Most doctors don't know about depersonalization which is quite annoying. Could you possibly get to see a psychiatrist? You have to try and stop the vicious circle of anxiety leading to stress which leads to depersonalisation, I know it's hard! Eat healthy and drink loads of water and try and get some exercise in...cos this thing ain't gonna go away if you dwell on it! I'd cut out the fizzy drinks too. Hope this helps! 😊
