Please help no have anxiety

For a few years now I’ve had anxiety. Nothing major just worries about certain things in life my son.  Money, had a bet small gambling problem  etc. A few weeks ago I had a panic attack at work, lasted about 20 seconds. Was awful. Soon passed then for a day or 2 I felt a bit crap. Got back to normal until the weekend just gone I had another only this time I was trying to fight it if and it kept coming in waves. Went to the hospital. Had ecg all was ok.

Now I’ve been taking a AD for a few days now and it’s making me feel like crap. Worse than before. Panicky, anxiety is heightened. Feel all cold/ flu symptoms. Slight ringing in my ear and feel my ears are blocked and stuffy.  I’m taking citilioran and they way I feel the past few days and I’m not prepared to go to hell and back before these tablets take effect

Taking these tablets are making my anxiety worse and the slight ringing in my ear is worrying. I was fine before I took these tablets. Had a little bit of depression but that was it.

Please help anyone. I’m going out of mind

how long have you been on citalopram?

Unfortunately antidepressants tend to make you worse before you get better. I was exactly the same as you. Little anxiety and mild depression then I took my taBletsoe and wow hightend anxiety, servere depression, flu like symotors and thought I was going out my mind I also developed obsessive intrusive thoughts but after a few months on Meds that all calmed down. Now my depression is minimal and my Anxiety is managable. I'm in a whatsapp anxiety group we offer each other support. If you'd like to join then leave me your number and I'll get you added to the group.

It’s embarrassing but 3 days Darren

Meds just don’t agree with me. This ringing in my ears is getting me down more than anything at the moment and is making anxiety worse.

Yes I’m getting all these

Flushed down my face and arm

Lump in throat when swallowing

Ringing in ears.

Dizziness and a little panicky. I was fine before I took these. The ringing in my ear is the worse now as it’s driving me crazy.

My sons been bad recently and I’m hoping I’m catching something Of him so that’s the reason for ringing in ears.

Plus my hearing is feeling all clogged up

going back to my gp today so hopefully he can give me something rather than a antidepressant.

yeah i know how you feel on the meds. the first 2 week is definatly the hardest. they will make your anxiety worse for a couple of weeks intill your body gets used to them. the ringing in your ears is an anxiety symptom or it might be tinitus. go and get your ears checked bro, may be something as simple as that. i have constant ringing in the ears to to lots of gun fire noises when i was in the army and i agree its a pain in a#s

It's more than likely your tablets giving you side effects I still sometimes get ringing in my ears and ive been on my tablets 8 months now

Hi,

Anti depressants generally do not work for panic/anxiety, it is designed for depression, you said you have mild depression ? I know it's a bit hard to tell at the moment but has the anti depressants helped with the depression side of things ? see panic/anxiety is completely different to depression and the sooner doctors realise this the better off and the quicker their patients will recover. I'm like you am intolerant to lots of medications and all families of anti depressants are a no no for me, severe side effects, your body knows that you can't tolerate them, generally anti depressants take 2 weeks to kick in, some longer but not often. anti depressants work on the so called serotonin in the brain, this isn't how anxiety works, Benzodiazepines are the most effective as they work on the Gaba receptors, where anxiety is produced, however because they are addictive only a rare few doctors will prescribe them. they were a life changer for me.

The depression/low mood I could handle but I think it’s more anxiety now.   They have now given me propanol ( think that’s how it is spelt) to calm the anxiety

I’m hoping it will calm down tomorrow as I haven’t took any tablets today.

Thanks for all your replies. Please keep them coming

Propranalol is good I take it, does wonders for the physical side of anxiety, nothing for mental side though...
