hi.
well my story is past year or so I've been depressed, having defeat ive and bloating problems! Periods I've stArted spotting a couple of days pre my period starting and its a shorter cycle now with one of those days horrific heavy.
My mother tells me she was going through menopause at 40 and I'm 39 now.
i have sporadic night sweats too.
DOES anybody else have compromised digestion due to their menopause?
thank you, from a desperate miserable soul!
Hi,
I'm also having stomach issues.
Bloating and acid reflux. I'm not sure if it's menopause related. It seems almost anything I eat I get acid reflux. I been taking Protonix and it helps but I still have to get a endoscopy according to my Doctor.
Hope you feel better soon.
Thank you. And to you. I have read an article saying our hormones cause disruption to the digestive system during menopause. Of course you can read anything on the internet though. I suspect il be sent for an endo should I go back to my Dr so please keep me updated.
Yes I read something like that too about menopause and digestive issues.
I'm hoping it is related to hormones and not something more serious because I have been feeling sick and I get more anxious not knowing what it could be.
I will let you know what the Gastroenterologist says.
I hear you. The fear of the unknown. I'm in the same boat. The more I worry the worse the symptoms get.
Trying to "mind over matter" out if it.
Best of luck to us both x
Thanks. .
I forgot to ask you if you have any problems with Sleep because I been having chronic insomnia.
It's so exhausting not getting hardly any sleep.
How old are you out of interest?
're sleep yes and no.. I often wake up DROWING in sweat but it's not every night. Other than that I take homeopathic melatonin drops which helps a lot with sleep.
But I do wake up ALOT but historically I always have suffered intermittent insomnia.
Have you had bloods done or do they want to jump straight into the endo with you?
I just started getting the digestive issues very recently, I have been in peri for a little over a year now and LOL, I thought this whole thing lasted about 6 months, but yes, I have bloating, lots of belching, feeling like my food is taking a long time to digest,. The next person who says this is the best time of your life should be punched.
My blood work came out good except for the hormones blood work part..that came back abnormal.
I been dealing with insomnia for a long time. way before my menopause symptoms started.
I can fall asleep but I can't seem to stay asleep. I fall asleep for about an hour or two then I wake up and can't fall back asleep.
It seems I don't fall into a deep resting sleep because any noise or sound wakes me up.
I'm exhausted all day.
I'm 49 years old.
Ok well if it helps being a well experienced insmniac I can say the melatonin drops make a world of difference. The brand I use is weleda should you wish to try them . Melatonin helps hormones too .
oh thanks for that info..I'm going to try it.
Hi lennie
i thought I replied but my devices change my words for me and mess things up :s
but yes I hear you. I feel the EXACT same way.
Its like my digestion is too slow, food sits on my intestines too long causing bloating and the likes.. Fyi I heard this peri can carry on for a DECADE!!!!!! Ie mum started at 40 and finished at 50!
SORRY AND FEEL FREE TO PUNCH ME for being he bearer of bad news
:s
we can overcome this though!
I just WISH my dr would take me seriously and consider menopause. She refused to test my hormones :s
she due in fact tell me to join patient.co.uk though. Big ups for that at least!
My dr, also refuses to prescribe HRTS he says the cancer risk is real and I am overweight, I need to lose 60 pounds so that would double my risk, since peri happened losing weight is like pulling a tooth from a live tiger. I am walking more and I was told it helps, it does a little. I also have horrible bloating, breast soreness, and just a feeling of misery physically one of my friends asked me was I a hypocondraic and I thought wait until you go through this.
My mom said that her menopause went on for about 12 to 13 years. I think the biggest thing is the joint pain and the tightness around my shoulders and the lumpiness, I showed my dr. and he said its due to the joint swelling but I was told swelling was not apart of this but apparently it is, now I have this indigestion. Its very frustrating to experience being physiclaly uncomfortable all the time.
Aw lennie I hear you.
i struggle to hold any weight however, walking string bean in fact :'( I felt soo much better when I weighed more!
have you considered herbs over hrt?
when and if my dr agrees to blood test my hormones il seek herbs over hrt to lessen the risk. These pharma drugs scare me
There are two current threads on digestion so I think it is safe to say it is a big problem for lots of us. I am finding magnesium supplements taken at night do ease the insomnia and the bloating, get the system moving a little. Forgot to take them fo r 2 nights and my sleep and digestion were definitely worse. If I feel very uncomfortable I find walking helps to ease it a bit. I think my system really slows down in the second half of the month, especially the week before my period, not that I know when that will be anymore.
Yes i had digestive issues approaching menopause. I have a hiatas hernia which didnt give me problems until meno. I started to feel sick and lost my appetite, i had an endoscophy which showed i had gastitis, it took some time to clear but was the worst symptom for me x
I had Nausea for a month at the beginning. Also lots of bloating.
