Hi hun, the spots on the outside/lips and closer to the bottom of the vagina, look like it could be.
I would go get swabbed first thing in the morning, waiting too long means inaccurate results.
HSV can lay dormant in the system for years. 80% of carriers dont even know they have it, so either you, or he could have been carrying it since before the relationship and not even have known it.
Does your partner get oral cold sores? If he ever has, its also possible it was transmitted that way. Most new cases of genital HSV are transmitted by oral sex.
I would also ask your partner to go and get an IGG type blood test, as its the most accurate test.
HSV is NOT tested for in your routine STD blood or urine tests and so its likely neither of you knew your herpes status.
HSV is incredibly common and they think up to 90% of the population has it (with only 20% of them knowing they do). It doesnt affect your quality of life any, other than when you’re having an outbreak (the first is usually the worst). You can still have kids naturally if youre wanting to.
The stigma is far worse than the actual virus.
Definitely go get a swab done ASAP and get started on antivirals to help clear it up, ask for a lidocaine gel if youre too uncomfortable. It’ll numb the area.
Feel free to message me if you have any questions you dont want to post here.
it does look similar to herpes. get swabbed while the sores are still fresh. hopefully they can prescribe you medicine thay will help. your partner could be asymptomatic and not know that they have it, or maybe they have cold sores and didnt know. hope you can find some relief soon!
My outbreak showed up on kind of the inside of the lips, and then right under the opening of my vagina. the white spots could be normal, or could be sores.
You will likely be able to be visually diagnosed right away and get started on the antivirals and a prescription for lidocaine (or ask for the over the counter version, can’t remember the name). To get the swab results it took 5 or 6 days (got diagnosed on a Friday, results on the Thursday i think).
The only thing the swab will give you that the visual diagnosis wont, is a) confirmation and b) itll tell you which type.
The type really doesnt make much of a difference as they present the same way.
HSV2 (more commonly known as the “sexually transmitted” kind) is just more likely to cause genital outbreaks more often than HSV1. Both can be present in the genitals though and you can still have as few or as many with one type vs the other!(:
The first outbreak is the worst!
When I had my first, i was told it was one of the worst she’d seen, i couldnt walk or roll over without incredible pain. Peeing hurt, not just from contact with sores but actually peeing, i was itchy but in so much pain, had flu symptoms, literally the poster child lol I got another one (just cleared up) just under a month later and it was so much better. Just a bit of pain for a day, but no where near as bad as the first. No other symptoms, just the sores and some itching! I decided on the daily antivirals for a bit too keep things in check. with my job, i cant afford to be unable to run around lol
all to say, this is probably going to be the worst, any outbreaks afterwards (if any at all), are going to be much more manageable.
I suggest going to a family doctor after to get a prescription for the antivirals to keep on hand in case you get another outbreak, that way you can start taking them as soon as you notice anything.
although it looks like a herpes outbreak,i believe this is a bacterial infection, get tested and keep us with your updates.
do not be worried, nothing dangerous there
