Please help

Does anybody ever feel like their throat is closing up when they have anxiety? It super scares me when I feel like my throat is gonna close all the way and I won't be able to breathe. Does anybody else experience this? Please help. It's happening as I speaksad

try closing your mouth and breathing through your nose and see if this experiment will stop your anxiety when you are short of breath.

It really sucks doesnt it. Its scary sad

This was a primary symptom of mine. I dealt with it in secrecy for six months until I finally convinced myself I had cancer. It wasn't cancer. It was a symptom of my generalized anxiety disorder. Once I accepted this, the 'closing' feeling became less and less. What helped a lot for me was breathing in and out deeply. I'd concentrate on this pattern (in...1...2...out...1...2) and my anxiety lessened, and my throat opened back up. I also reminded myself that although the feeling was totally unpleasant (downright scary), it was JUST anxiety, and anxiety can't harm you. You have to start thinking realistically and breathe. This is a start, anyway. Good luck. The breathing really helps.

i get this all the time when my anx is bad - a constant lump in my throat and feel almost like im being strangled - its very unpleasant, but also very common. for me i feel like i wont be able to swallow.  the way i look at it is, i get through one day - which means i can get through the next, it didnt hurt me the previous day, so it wont hurt me today. when you stop focusing on it, it really does dissapear
