Ive been having burning pain in my stomach for 18months two operations hasnt found anything. Went to a new specialist who said it could be gall bladder. The pain is getting unbearable right under my right rib. Ive had a ultra sound that shows no gall stones just a tiny polp. My GP says I should have a Hida scan he thinks it is Bile getting stick in the gall bladder. Ive called the specialist who suggested a Gall bladder removal. I really think this would improve things but i dont want it removed if i still have the pain.
Long story I know. But has anyone on here had theirs removed with having gallstones present????
Anyone have bile issues?
Anyone not happy they got their GB removed
That was meant to read without gallstones.
Hi
I had stones had mine removed fantastic..
but there is a small risk of being left with bile malabsorption after surgery , chronic diahreah etc it is a very small minority who are left in this state . But from reading posts over the last year I have observed that those who are often left in this state suffer from complex symptoms before ...there gallbladder removal was not always straightforward you have stones we will remove. They had hida scan done, suffered pancreatic problems , bile problems, iibs etc and therefore gallbladder removal is a we will whip it out as it may be the cause?
caution ...tests are better than lets remove it and see if it helps.. As it may not help and may leave you worse off...so get thoroughly tested ...and if they can see your gallbladder isn't working or is full of sludge or stones get it out..but if they are unsure hang on to it ... And keep getting tested ..hope that helps
If you can get by without you GB being removed you do it! I now suffer from BAM (BILE ACID MALORBSATION) since my GB op three years ago the symptoms are chronic diaorea I hardly g out now so your u think carefully and ask advice from doctors xxxx
I would suggest that you avoid surgery until it is certain what the problem is.........GB removal is irreversible. You could have Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction which will be further agitated by GB removal. It is a rare condition and therefore few understand it.
I would get a mineral panel done if possible. Occasionally the gallbladder grows sluggish when its overworked due to low magnesium levels and if your iron is low it could make matters worse as you will have low oxygen content in your blood making it harder for damaged cells to repair. Other good ones to get checked are b12, d3, potassium and zinc.
I had so much pain for over a year. Dr just put me in antibiotics. I went to 30 plus Drs all had a different option. I always ask is it my gallbladder. They did hida scan. Ultra scan nothing ever showed. Finally after 14 months I made a surgan take it out. They said it was so bad it should have exploded. Don't know if that helps but sometimes the dr can't see it. I also went to the mayo clinic. They were the rudest people. Did absolutely nothing for me and charged me 27000 dollars. As for the diahria after wards. If you have to much bike you need questran. I take one scoop every night. It helps.
Thank you so much everyone. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer.
