Please help :(

I have been struggling with insomnia for a year now which has caused me to become anxious during the day which doesn't help. I panic when I go to bed, I am an emotional wreck during the day - anything can set me off. I will go for weeks at a time where I am fine, then have one bad night and that will turn into a few weeks of struggling. Sleeping pills don't seem to work anymore. I have seen psychiatrists and psychologists to no avail - nothing seems to help. I have tried Mirtzaphine and I tried to come off it and it made me feel awful - I have now been prescribed Trazadone - however it was a doctor that I had never seen before and he prescribed it and kind of rushed me out of the office and all he told me was to start with 50mg and increase dose as needed but that doesn't sit well with me. Has anybody tried this for insomnia/anxiety and can give some more insight?

Hello Ellie. Unfortunately I do not have a solution for you, I suffer from insomnia very badly too.

But I would like to ask, are you in UK? The reason I ask is that my doctor won't even entertain the idea of giving me sleep medication, which I badly need at times.

About your condition.. You may not want to hear this but I'm starting to believe that chronic insomnia can not be cured 100%. Sure, you may have a few weeks, even a few months of good sleep and might think 'damn I've beaten it', only for it to come back worse than ever for apparently no reason at all, it just happens..

I'm sorry you are going through this, stay strong and good luck!

Ok my bad, Trazodone is a antidepressant. All they ever offer is antidepressants to combat the effects of sleep deprivation, no actual sleep medication.

All doctor's have this mentality drilled into them. Why??

Hi ellie,

Have you tried natural remedies?

Magnesium 5htp melatonin valerian root? If not try these first.

I don't take all of them at the same time.

I always use magnesium. Melatonin and 5htp doesn't do much for me but a lot of people say they work for them.

Valerian root 900mg is the closest thing for me to prescribed Meds.

Have you seen an endocrinologist? Hormone doctor.

Hi Lisa, nope I haven't.. What would they be able to do? I am willing to try anything at this stage
