Please help

Just over a week or so ago I had sex for the first time. About 5 days later I noticed some redness around the top of my thighs and some spots, a couple of which seem to have white heads but cannot be squeezed. I went to the sti clinic and the nurse took a swab and visually diagnosed me with herpes, although she noted that it was unusual that the outbreak was so mild and that I have no other symptoms - flu like symptoms/itchiness/pain etc.

I told my partner and he went to a private clinic to get tested. His results have come back quicker than mine and he has tested negative for both types of herpes. But he is the only person I have slept with.

Is what I have herpes? Is it possible that he may have the virus orally with no symptoms and that he has passed it onto me during oral sex?

I know I should wait for the swab results to come back but it's been a few days now and this is causing me great anxiety.

If he is negative (with no risky encounters in the past 3 months), and you have never been with anyone else, then you cannot have genital herpes. Visual diagnoses are prone to error. Your swab result is all you need to pay attention to.

Really? Is it not possible that he maybe has the virus in his mouth (with no symptoms) and gave it to me during oral sex?

You said he tested negative for both types, so no. Since he has no symptoms to swab, I'm assuming he had the IgG blood test done. You'll need to confirm how he was tested. Anyway, if he carries the virus, it ought to show up in the test, symptoms or not. I doubt you have herpes.
