I was on 25mg of zoloft for 2 months and when I ran out (3 weeks ago)I didn't get a refill until a week ago. I have been having severe dizzy spells. There are days when I feel like I can't concentrate or I become very confused. What I want to know is should I start taking my meds again? Will these symptoms get better? Will anything bad happen?
hi you are experiencing discontinuation effects from stopping sertraline suddenly, instead of the preferred method of tapering off of the medication gradually
the effects are not harmful, but can be uncomfortable/distressing (such as dizziness)
the effects will pass eventually, but it varies between person to person regarding how long the effects last for
for the future i would certainly advise to taper off medication like sertraline and similar meds. slowly and gradually (by reducing the dose over a few weeks or a month, to make things much easier on you)
Thank you. I feel a little more at ease
yes, go back on.
When you stopped suddenly, your body was objecting.
When the time comes to quit, it should be a gentle taper.
