Ive never had chicken pox (confirmed test recently) and am wondering if i should "fix what aint broke" and get the vaccine. Im 47. I dont want to be MORE susceptible to chicken pox and therefore later in life more susceptible for shingles, if i get this live virus injected! Dont know what to do but whatever ive done so far has worked!
Well, if you haven't had chickenpox, then you won't get shingles!
Ditto, if you've not had chicken pox you won't get Shingles, unless you're immune compromised. Merry is the person to ask on this forum. she has huge amounts of knowledge on the subject which most doctors do not seem to have! Try sending her a message and see if she can help you.

I aint a doctor. But from what I have heard about from friends and relatives who have had CP or Shingles, and from 'my recent experience of shingles' I wouldn't wish upon anybody to get it. Even after this harrowing experience of 'Shingles' I still have this really bad burning pain in left the front, back and side of my neck, head and cheek.
Don't play any silly games with your own health just by reading others' silly descriptions.

There is meant to be a new subunit vaccine coming out shortly after highly successful phase III trails with over 15,000 people recently. Subunit vaccines do not use an 'attenuated' live virus, therefore you shouldn't be able to get shingles from the vaccine, like it is possible to get from the current chickenpox and shingles vaccines.
