Had PMR two years now and leg stiffness and walking main problem. Has anyone tried the Bowen Therapy?
Yes and it worked.
Put 'Bowen Therapy' in the search box, top right had side of this page and read the thread.
It is well worth trying for the three weeks, one hour session per week, to see if it will work for you. It is non-invasive and it got me out of a wheelchair, then dumped the zimmer frame and now only use a walking stick (folding one in bag) just in case there is rough ground of wobbly pavements. I also stepped it up after an op and it helped me once again. I do go every few months for a booster - money well spent.
never heard of bowen therapy, how were you diagnosed with pmr, and what treatment have you been getting to date
Meant to add on the PMR GCA North East support website, Winter 2015 Newsletter, Page 4 - article on Bowen Therapy.
Thanks - that's a good recommendation.
Cheryl
I am a little confused by your thread. Are you having specific problems?
Most people are diagnosed via the British Society of Rehumatologists Diagnoses and Treatment guidelines. Anyone can download those guidelines either of the BSR, NHS and this website. There are also available on the Nationa PMR GCS, North East and Scotland websites.
Yes, I have the therapy on an ongoing basis as I have multiple medical conditions involving the muscles and soft tissues. I find it immensely helpful and would suggest to anyone thinking about it that they should have a couple of initial treatments to see if it suits them. The good thing about it is that you know very quickly whether it does or not, and it can be stopped with no problems if necessary.
yes i bowens, and can say it really made a differance, well worth a try
I have had PMR for three years and several people have recommended Bowen to me too. I've not tried it yet, but was very interested in the positive comments you have received to your question. I think it sounds like a good idea, so go for it!
