I have read Eileen's explanation of how the prednisone dose works and why taking the dose early in the morning makes it more effective for most people. I have always taken my dose at 8 a.m. And all goes well until bedtime and I have a miserable time trying to go to sleep. But then, when I awake in the morning I am not stiff, do not have pain...?? What is that about? Any suggestions? Thank you!
The only suggestion I can make is you are at a point where your natural cortisone is producing? What dose are you at with the preds? I have found now I'm at 2 mg some days I feel fine other not but I sticking to the 'plan' until every day is OK.
Two days ago I began the DSNS method, but the even slower method that was on this forum recently....1 day new, 6 days old dose, 1 day new, 5 days, etc. I am trying to taper eventually from 7-1/2 to 7 (2-1/2 yrs. into PMR). Yesterday was the 7m dose and I took it easy...felt like I missed that extra 1/2m, but not a big deal. Bedtime was uncomfortable....BUT, this morning I woke up feeling fine....so I only took 5m of my dose and I am saving the other 2-1/2m for after dinner. It is 3 p.m. and I feel fine on the 5m!.....how can that be?...what does that mean?
I have experienced that when I haven't had the appropriate tablets available, but that's not when the problems begin for me, it's the next day and even the day after.
Well, I decided to "stick with the plan" as OregonJohn had suggested....I took the 2-1/2m at dinner time. Always hoping for some kind of "breakthrough"....some sign that I am recovering and don't need the prednisone as much😊 Back to my DSNS+...wade thru the process.
Thank you for responding.
