I am one year into polymyalgia rheumatica. for the last 6 months I have had pain in my left calf and mid-foot. It is almost healed, however, now it has started in my right calf. Could this be related to the PMR, or the prednisone? Thanks.
Foot pain can occur in PMR - but in that case I'd expect it to have improved with the pred. I had calf pain and thought it might be claudication but I think it was more likely to be tight muscles. It improved with Bowen therapy and calf stretches.
What did your GP think?
I have had severe tendonitis from my left shin down onto the top of my foot for over a year. Could barely walk at times. Didn't think it was related to PMR. But have notice that since taking prednisone, it is gone 98% of the time.
Hi Kathy, sorry to hear about pain in your calf. Since being diagnosed I cannot walk any distance in trainers as my calf muscles start to pull and ache, the left one being more unfortable than the right. My rheumy said it was steroids. Best of luck. Pat
Hi Kathy, I was diagnosed with PMR in March after a month or so having blood tests and MRI scan etc,, however back in September last year I started to have a problem with my achilles tendon. A large lump of scare tissue at the base of the tendon had become so inflamed that I could hardly walk!! I had physio on it and the lump had reduced considerably! Looking back, and hindsight is a wonderful thing, all that was related to rising inflammation in my body and a prequal to PMR!!!
Hope that's a help. Xx
