Hi all.. I think prevention is related to diet.
However I was wondering if anyone experienced the same below or if it helps someone that's reads it.
Briefs - BAD irritate the groin due to where they rub on your skin. My groin HS coincidently subsided when I changed to boxers.
Boxers - BAD irritates your gluteal cleft and possibly bought about the onset of my pilonidal
Trunks - Good they don't have seam up your backside and they go further down you thigh than briefs so as not to irritate groin. (plus they make it easy to put bandaging in)
Polyester - BAD I'm pretty sure polyester polo shirts were really worsening the inflammation and pain of flare ups. Cotton polos don't have the same issue. Smells worse too.
Really interested if anyone has had a different or similar experience?

I definitely agree with this. As a lady, it's hard finding cotton boxer style underwear. They all seem to be made out of polyester and elastaine. Much easier for blokes!
Cotton tops are a must for my armpits. I start starting buckets the minute I wear anything synthetic. And as you say it smells worse too.x
Yes, once you have cysts/inflammation anything irritating that spot is going to make it worse, as with any sore or injury. With HS cysts anything pressing on them (jeans, underwear, picking at them, your other thigh rubbing it, sitting on a cyst, etc. ) can force the cystic material to tunnel or spread under your skin making it bigger and more sore. I believe stage 3 is the tunneling stage if I remember right. I was in the last stage and had lots of tunneling before I found out about the food sensitivities.
Hi san mari, i absolutely agree. But this is about whether people find polyester or particular style underwear worse when they do have lesions. Even on the diet you can get little ups and downs, and if you do break out... Im pretty convinced polyester really irritates the lesions. And briefs irritate the groin. Seems like obvious stuff in hind sight so seeing if everyone else agrees
