I just read this through very quickly, but it seems to me that this is good news for people like me who are quite apprehensive about Prednisone!

Thank you! Very interesting NEW findings!  I wished my Rheumatologist here in the US would read it. I printed it out for my own knowledge.

Thank you so much, I do so want to be able to re-assure people that

a) constant research is going on and

b) what some of us have been trying to say for years, pred is not as frightening as you are led to believe.

We have responded to the people involved and asked some more questions.  Hopefully we might just get a response in the future.

Thanks for keeping us up to date.  This will help some of the newbies to look upon Pred as a reliable 'friend' instead of their enemy.

I agree it is so important to have medical backing for what we say - pred isn't half as bad as is it painted! It is the doctors who are terrified of it - and to some extent, without reason. Yes, it is a heavy duty drug - but used properly and carefully it gives life back to PMR patients. You have to see the good aspects to balance out the bad.
