Hi I have been ok today can feel a bit of a headache now going to take some tablets in a minute I dread going to bed I have never had much sleep but at the mo it's no joke been up now since 3am don't feel that tired just weary how are you coping with Polymyalgia
I spent 2 weeks with very unsettled nights 3 hours sleep if I was lucky. My legs so fidgety.
i then reduced my evening dose to 5mg and take no later than 7 pm and can now get to sleep easier, my problem is if someone disturbs me I can't then get back to sleep.
im up from 6am till midnight most days, then when I throw my nights into the mix it's 24 hours sometimes. My work life does mess me up with the Meds, but at the moment I have less pain than for years, so a little euphoric at times, then I fade, must try harder to pace, but I'm getting stronger with myself pacing and will say no to doing something until I feel I can.
the only thing is I've reduced 10 days ago (5mg) to 25 mg but had to take a double dose for a procedure and that messed me up again, don't like the headaches palpitations etc.
Then yesterday I reduced 10% to 22.5 mg as the rheumatologist said I need to reduce to 15 mg quickly as he doesn't agree with the GP. I may have done it too quick but I will see can always go back up if needed.
I Have an appointment coming up at the PMR clinic so will just stay as I am mow until their advice.
You seem to be sorted out thank you very much for your support
Stick to your guns Olwen, my GP is dead set on me taking Alendronic Acid even though I had an excellent Dexascan, he says I have been on pred for a long time so should take it. I said he was irresponsible suggesting it without proof that I needed it. That did go down like a lead balloon, I must admit.
A dexascan measures your bone density and checks whether you have osteoporosis or not. It is recommended for anyone taking pred for more than three months or so, as osteoporisis can be a side effect of pred.
