JANETTE ANY ADVISE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED
Dear Janette, Nice to be able to read all your post, but sorry about the PMR. I have certainly had night sweats and hot flushes, thought I was back to the menopause again. Also cramp in my hands and feet, also legs occasionally, and I think (Mrs O and Nefret are the experts here) that they are side effects of the steroids like so many other things.
I don't know about mobility allowance, but I have a feeling it cropped up on this site before so if you trawl back through you may well find something.
Keep in touch though - this site has been really useful to most of us, Green granny.
hi green granny
thank you so much for your reply,i will certainly trawl back i just feel that when people have genuine illnesses that restrict there mobility and cant get what they are entitled too is wrong i will keep you posted take care janette
Hi Janette
Like you I have cramps etc due to steroids. I am 55 years old. I also applied for mobility and carers allowance. I got a knock back on both so I appealed against the decision and took it to a tribunal. I rang citizens advice who gave me a telephone number of a government helpline who arranged for me to meet a representative. To cut a long storey short, the rep said he didn't think I stood a chance but as it happened I was on 60mg steroid and extremley depressed at the time of the hearing. I cried all the way through it whilst answering questions and I think they felt sorry for me. They awarded me 2 years benefits, high rate of mobility and low rate care allowance. The whole process took 6 months. A heck of a lot depends on the way you fill in the forms. Don't give up because there is so much red tape it does put you off. Go to Citizens advice. Fingers crossed for you
HI CHISNEL
THANKS FOR REPLY VERY HELPFUL,DID YOU GET IT BECAUSE YOU HAD PMR? I AM AT THE MOMENT APPEALING THROUGH THE HELP OF WELFARE RIGHTS SO FINGERS CROSSED I AM A BIT NERVOUS TO GO TO THE HEARING BUT I WILL
THANKS
