Possibility of HIV infection? Urgent answers required.

I have a question: Is it possible for HIV virus to survive on the bristles of a completely dried toothbrush, inside a partially opened zip lock plastic bag, and left untouched for over four months? Does it still carry a risk of infection?

It is highly unlikely. You've got to understand that HIV doesn't survive too long outside the body. It lasts only few hours after, which it would expire. Therefore, I don't see it surviving on toothbrush, in a bag or not. Bacteria? Of course bacteria would last very long. Some Gram-positive bacteria form endospores, which allow them to withstand extreme temperatures and conditions and last more than a thousand years. Therefore, in this type of situation, your concern should be bacteria. I hope this answers your question.

No it's not a risk, if the blood is wet there might be a risk and it is toooooooooo low.

Thank you so much for the answer! I guess I’m just being too paranoid about this stuff, but your answer should put my mind at ease.

You're so welcome, and it is a pleasure to know that I helped. I wouldn't lose sleep over that. The risk, as Aahmad pointed out, is infinitesimal. So, live your life.
