I’ve had HSV-2 for almost 9 years. After the first two years it was quite manageable without medication (2 outbreaks a year). However this past year has been completely different. Since the beginning of January I have had a new outbreak every 2 weeks. The very odd part about it all is I am use to having some tingling/burning sensation to warn me that an outbreak is coming. This has not been happening. I just happen to notice them while showering. The bumps are small, a shiny red color, and painless (also odd because every outbreak I have had in the past were very painful and would swell the area around the outbreak)and appear on different parts of my inner labia each time. They are not ingrown hairs. Is this even possible? I am freaking out because I am up to 11 outbreaks since January. I’ve been using antivirals to and they still occur frequently which makes me suspect it may not be outbreaks but something else.
The tingling and burning sensations are known as PREDOME. If u had two outbreaks in a year earlier, and now having multiple recurrent OBs, I think it suggests a new infection that triggers your herpes or a systematic changes or illness, let’s say diabetes, hormones, stress, fatigue etc
