Hello.bbi recently had some routine blood tests which we all normal apart from a mildly elevated ALP. My GP did other tests to check GGT and liver enzymes as this can be either liver or bone. The liver tests appear within normal range so I'm wondering if anyone had experience of this type of abnormal test. I'm post menopausal and do not eat any dairy. Thank you.
Why did they do the Tests? Do you have liver problems? I would have thought there were better tests for bone density for example such as a Dexascan.
I think that after 50 when they carry out routine blood test they automatically do LFTs and if they see irregularities they will check other levels. Dexa scans look at bone density whereas blood tests look for bone disease amongst other things.
I went to the Dr because I had a flare up of IBS and was feeling generally very very stressed and anxious. I've never been diagnosed with a liver problem.
I'm not quite 50. I'm only 48 but went through the menopause at a slightly younger than average age.
I was just checking why Lisa had seen her doctor and why she had had the tests. I was wondering why she had had checks for bone disease and whether it was actually bone density she had a problem with.
