Hi guys! So, to start, I'm a 28yr female, no drinking, moderate diet. Also, I've had crohns since I was 18. Over the last few years, I have had nausea that's progressively been getting worse. My GI sent me to do a HIDA scan, and ultrasound. My ultrasound is next week, but my HIDA scan showed me having a 90% ejection fraction rate. During the test, about an hour in, they were unable to follow the tracer into my small intestine. They gave me some water had me walk around,I did have some moderate pain afterwards but they were able to continue the test which I assume means it worked. I don't really have attacks, there's been a few I can recall, my biggest complaint honestly, is over the last year having almost unbearable nausea, weather I be hungry, just ate, it usually gets worse if I just ate, or if I've been hungry. The odd thing is, I can feel hungry and if I don't eat within 30 min of that, I get sick. Just kind of curious if anybody else has dealt with such a high ejection fraction and what happened. Also to be noted, my great great grandmother, my great grandmother and grandfather, and my mother (at my age) have all had to have their gallbladders removed. My great grandmothers almost killed her due to a stone blocking her pancreas. I was only informed of this information last night when calling my mother to let her know about my results. We're not exactly close so she didn't know I was going through them.
Imhad estremempainnfrommGb Attacks.,imcouldmnot breath it starts in right front lower rib to the bah between shoulder blades. A simple X-ray showed I had stone caught in the bile duct.
I'm really surprised they did a HIDA scan before an ultrasound. Usually it's the other way around. But at any rate.. My ejection fraction was 98%. I didn't have any issues with the tracer though so I hope that your results are accurate.
My symptoms were nausea every morning, but it was more like I was sick to my stomach due to a bad taste in my mouth. I would brush my teeth and the bad taste would go away and the nausea would subside 80-90% and slowly get better throughout the morning. I would not have an appetite until around lunch time because of it. No pain in the AM but would then slowly have discomfort in my upper right quandrant as the day progressed. Hot showers helped and it was hard to find a position to sleep in, but I wouldn't call it pain. I always looked at it as a high ejection fraction means your gallbladder is pushing out too much bile or it contracts too often. The increase in bile I would assume could be the reason for my nausea in the morning and the discomfort was the gallbladder contracting too much throughout the day.
If you've had attacked before, chances are you probably have stones. I never had attacked because I didn't have stones. I also have a crazy family history with gallbladder problems on my fathers side, so I just figured I might as well get it out anyways as chances are stones were going to form. Hopefully your ultrasound helps give you an answer.
I had my surgery about 2 months ago. Nausea is completely gone, discomfort is gone. I'm eating whatever I want as my appetite came back. I'm definitely one of the lucky ones as a high ejection fraction is still a questionable thing. Some doctor's believe anything about 35% is fine and some believe anything above 75% is bad.
Good news to hear your doing so much better!😊
