Possible hypothyroidism?

Just saw a new primary today. For awhile now ive been very tired ti where i can barely function. Very depressed. My periods gave been getting worse over the past 3 years and ive gained 50lbs and cant lose it. Ive been thinking perimenopause. I am 42 yrs old. But the dr today said besides bloodwork she wants a thyroid ultrasound and a pelvic ultrasound. So i started reading about hypothyroidism and so much more makes sense. I always freezing and can never get warm. My voice gets hoarse. My face seems fat or swollen. And i have had hair breakage so bad for the past 2 yrs. Its awful. Could this be whats wrong? Oh and i almost forgot the brain fog and memory loss has been horrible. But i was wondering why the u/s though? Wouldnt bloodwork tell us? Then i started freaking out that maybe she felt something when she felt my neck. So now im scared of a possible tumor? I have extreme health anxiety. Anyway just hoping to hear what others who have been thru this think. Thank you.

I have hypothyroidism and I have a grandaughter with exactly the same symptoms - we do have family members who are hypothyroid.  You do sound as though that's what it is especially if you see a difference in your facial expressions and aware of a hoarse voice. All the other symptoms you are getting are typical of someone with an under active thyroid.  My grandaughter got medication from one doctor and when she went back to get another blood test saw a different doctor who said she wouldn't  necessarily have started her on thyroxine and she is the same as you weight gain hoarse voice hair dry and brittle,  face looks bloated.   All doctors have different ideas of levels even when the indications are all there.

Being cold and very tired are other symptoms too.

Your doctor seems to want to check you out which could be a good thing but unless you are started on thyroxine your symptoms will persist.

Hope you get it sorted soon

Forgot to say if your thyroid is under active that is another symptom anxiety and hypothyroidism makes it worse that along with  depression.

Thank you so much for responding. Does it tend to run in families? I didnt know but my mom just told me she has hypothyroidism too. It would really explain so much. I hope i can get on medication and feel normal again.
