Possible Misdiagnosis of Acid Reflux?

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has experienced what I'm going through? Randomly in late December 2019, I started feeling nauseous for no reason. It was several times a day and I also started having extreme motion sickness. I've never had motion sickness before and suddenly I couldn't sit in a moving car for more than 5 minutes without motion sickness kicking in. I went to my doctor in March and she diagnosed me with GERD (acid reflux) which was strange since I've never had any of the other symptoms. Still, I took the 20mg of Omeprazole for 5 weeks which unfortunately created the symptoms of GERD and I started experiencing regurgitation, throat tightness, bloating etc. I was then put on 40mg of Famotidine for 5 weeks which didn't help with the acid reflux but only helped with the nausea and motion sickness. Also I've developed food intolerances since and have lost 5kgs in 2 months. I'm convinced that I didn't have GERD in the beginning as the related symptoms only began after taking the medicine, but think I might have some other stomach related issues. Has anyone else experienced sudden daily nausea and motion sickness? I've always had pretty inconsistent bowel movements and have a lactose intolerant. I've luckily never thrown up throughout this. I have an appointment with my doctor next week but would love to know if anyone else has experienced something similar or who has been misdiagnosed with GERD. Thanks!

I can relate, even though my symptoms were different to yours. I had a weird shortness of breath with no other gastrointestinal issues at all. My doctor did the usual blood tests and x-rays which were all normal, despite this, I was put on a whole bunch of asthma medication that did nothing. Eventually after doing my own research, I came across shortness of breath possibly being related to acid reflux. I asked my doctor about it and she put me on Nexium. That’s when my gastrointestinal issues started. I’m finally breathing better, but weaned myself off the tablets because they were making me feel 10x worse than the original complaint. I’ve been off the Nexium and taking daily probiotics and drinking fresh ginger tea for about 2 weeks and am only now starting to feel semi-normal again. I dont know what caused my original breathing issues, but do suspect it could be covid, after all no one really knows how it could affect your body and it’s the only thing that makes sense to me, I’ve always been basically healthy before this.
