Hi I passed a approx 6 inch flat tape like thing , it seems very smooth yellowish almost transparent, I see no segments, is this a tape worm ? I have a pic of part of it but I'm not sure how to upload ? I'd appreciate any information thank you
If it is a tape worm you will continue to pass bits of it. They can live for twenty years so you need to get tablets to destroy it if you find it is a tape worm.
Tapeworm infection is awful. Also, be looking for little round clear, orangey , or black round sacks. These are the egg sacks that the tapeworms lets go of as it dies. Because a tapeworm dies from the bottom to the scolex(head), which sucks because the head is what can make it reproduce. Are you on any medication to kill the tapeworm? I always say it's smart to take a video or to take a specimen in with you to the doctor. You need to be taking supplements and eating the right foods!
Hi thanks for your reply, I just passed it last ngt so I've not had a docs apt yet , im not 100% sure it's a tape worm as I've looked really closely and I can't see any segments at all ? Its completely smooth ? Is that possible ? Or am I just in denial?
well I have had a tapeworm for the past 8 months off and on because if auto infection. But I think this time I'm killing it. I don't know can you take a photo of the stool? And wash your hands a lot!!!! Do you have any animals? I mean the chances of you passing segments of s tapeworm without albendazole or praziquantel is pretty hard to believe. You should go get an enema. But take a picture, oh and don't expect the medical community to be all hyped on helping you because it took 8 months for them to realize what was going on with me! It's goin to be a nice medical malpractice suit but it's Been hell he past month on Albendazole 800mg a day! I have become an expert so post a picture

yeah it is really awful but you jut learn to accept it and live life accordingly. Okay that doesn't look like a tapeworm at all. That looks like a threadworm!
Oh and yes I have a dog he's not showing any symptoms but im gonna worm him again just incase .
Yeah I mean my dogs have it as well! And that's how I got it from fleas carrying the tapeworm larvae. So it's always good to deworm your dogs and to use revolution once a month. Well once you deworm your dog then you should be looking in his/her stool about 7-10ndsys after because that's when the eggs would have hatched.
Has the picture upload worked at all ? What do you think ? Do all tape worms have segments? Or are some smooth ? I'm so freaking out with this , thank you very much for the information ill defo be looking out for any eggs or segments passed .
That doesn't look like a tapeworm at all. They would be much bigger segments. That if anything looks like a threadworm. Which you can cure with I think one pill. You're fine! That's nothing like the worms I was passing. They were huge!
Oh my goodness I'm really sorry to hear that your having such a bad time , I feel a little silly now for freaking out so much about this , you seem to be coping really well , how long will it take till your tapeworms gone ? Is a coarse of tablets ? Do they come out whole after the medicine kills them ?
oh no please do not ever undermine your own pain because pain is relative to the person and I would never say that mine has a higher magnitude than someone else. Yes there is albendazole ( which is on the list of the most important medications that are vital for your life) praziquantel and I believe that's it those are the two that are primarily used. I am taking 800mgs a day of albendazole. About to be done in th next day, but albendazole only kills the adults so I have to be careful with the eggs... And I have to not eat sweets, carbs andonoy eat lean proteins and garlic cloves, pineapples, stuff like that. But I have been slacking, it truly sucks though because I freaked out the past week because the little ones turned into adults and I was passing them all throughout the Fourth of July weekend. There are days I don't want to get out of bed because my joints and muscles are so sore. But I have pooped out a whole one when I use enema and am not taking the medication.

hello i am finding this thread interesting. I have just been given the all clear on a liver cyst which i have and what was thought to be a hyditad cyst (parasitic) but after having the serology test last week, it is OK. All the consultant wants to do is monitor the cyst so i have a follow up scan in 3 - 4 months time. I was googling and researching hyditad cysts and was scaring myself silly as it sounds a horrible thing to have but like you say Albendazole seems to be the only medication out there to kill the tapeworms. I'm still not 100% sure whether my diagnosis is correct so am not sure whether to go for a 2nd opinion or not or just take their word for it?
hi. Have you been proven to have tapeworm ?? Do you have cysticercosis? You mentioned the tapeworm and cysts. I would be certain that You have tapeworm and trust me you would know after awhile( they say some people don't know for 20 years but I am way more attentive) because you don't want to be taking albendazole if you don't have it due to its strain on the liver. Have they performed any x Rays mris catscan or a gi specialist may be your best bet.
