post bowel surgery

I had some of my bowel removed bowel a month ago but I still get pain everey time I eat and have diarrohea twice a day , is this normal?

Mary, you need to contact your surgeon or oncologist to discuss this.  In my case I was eating normally within a few hours of recovering from the anaesthetic after bowel surgery and have been doing so with no problems ever since.  Perhaps I should say that my surgery was carried out by 'keyhole' methods, the situation may be different in the case of conventional surgery.

Hello Mary, Sorry you are still sufering. My bowels went the other, but I do know majority of cases are like you. Don't know much about eating though. Have you tried the Macmillan website, bowel Cancer Forum, most people are like you and you will get good answers. Have you been back to hosp for your check, arm yourself with a slip of paper and all these qs.. Take care, Best Daffs

Hi Mary I had key hole surgery and had no pain ,but for about 2 months I had very loose stills and passing huge amounts of wind, but it wouldn't do you no harm to contact the McMillan support group for advise, I feel as though I am back to normal now 5 months on, good luck
