Post Cataract - seeing edge of lense and cresent

friends

I had cataract surgery 4 days ago in right eye. it was uneventful. Recovery is underway.

i noticed if I look straight, off the periphery, i can see a thin vertical line most likely edge of lense.  On the right of it there is a hazy area. It looks like a cresent shape which varies depending on where i look.  If I put the hand there, i can get between haziness and double images.

In reading through the forums, there are references to negative dysphotopsia to lense not be centered.  I recall during the operation, the surgeon mentioned that there was scaring as the cataract was more dense than he thought.

It is really driving me insane.  I had massive ordeal in the same eye 10 years ago with retinal tear and vitrectomy.  And now this; i assumed this would be a routine operation and now the uncertainty of what this is.

I believe the lense was MX60.

Yes I think that's negative dysphotopsia. I don't have any knowledge of it other than reading about it online, but I'm sure it's very annoying. I hope you get it resolved soon.

Thank you Nina.

Saw the surgeon; lense was definitely centered; I still feel i am not getting the right opinion.  bottom line some people's periphery vision is larger than others which happens to be my case. Hence negative dysphotopsia.

The lense i had was B&L MX60; in further checking; it is related to the diameter of the lense - in this case it was 6mm; I now feel they do a cookie cutter approach and charge extra for laser measurements which should have taken pupil/peripheral vision as well into consideration.

Lesson learnt...... Always insist with a 7mm lense not default lense if you experienced this phenomena in one eye.

I am getting to see retina specialist who i have been seeing for years to detached retina followup for reconfirming the lense is centered.  I can probably cope with it. Mine is pretty nasty - around 10 degree is cut out; over time may be once my prescription comes back i should be able to start tuning it out.

I get upset is these folks treat you like you dont know much; when I told the surgeon I am very well versed with optics e.g. I make my own lenses for astronomical telescopes and understand exactly how dispersion of light works to appreciate the phenomena.

Hello any improvements ? I think i am in the same case as yours !

Nothing. Been now exactly 1 year. What i can say is over time, i learned to ignore it but i had excellent prepheral vision; that is all gone.

I see, i hope it will be beter, in my case the reflection and the ghosting at the corner of the eyes are bothering me so much !
